It is possible. I have recently lost 48lbs in just 5 months.

I dropped 4 dress sizes. I had to buy a new wardrobe of clothes. The results are absolutely amazing.

I joined weight watchers. I followed their core plan. There is no tracking of any points and no measuring out of food either. You eat as much as you wish.

The following foods your are allowed to eat.

Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, vegetables, (including potatoes), brown rice, brown pasta,(keep them plain and simple) wholegrains, beans & pulses, fresh fruit ,non sugary cereals, skimmed milk, low fat dairy products, coffee, tea, and sugar free beverages.

Drinky plenty of water, snack on fresh fruit only, eat slowly, try to cut your portion sizes down too if you can. MOVE as much as you can too.

You are allowed a weekly point allowance of 21 for foods which aren't on the core plan.

For these foods I used my point allowance. But made sure that I only ate these in moderation. The less you eat of these, the more weight will drop off. As these foods are high in saturated fat, sugar and salt. These all add to those unwanted pounds.

Take away meals, ready made meals you buy in the supermarket, processed meats, biscuits, sweets, cakes, sugar fizzy drinks, alcohol, chocolate.

I also joined a gym. I attended 5/6 times a week for 1 hour at a time (and still do to help maintain my weight). This I know acellerated my weight loss.

The hardest part is keeping the weight off. You can only achieve this by changing your diet to healthy eating. (Biscuits, cakes, chocolate, alcholol, etc has to be eating in MODERATION ONLY).

Exercise is also important, this allows you to indulge that little bit more as a treat, (but not all the time).

at a rate of loss of 2lbs / week, in four months you could lose 2st 4lbs. That's the fastest rate you'd be likely to be able to make any lasting change. Unless you have one of your legs cut off, I suppose.

Remember, too-rapid weight-loss leads to similarly rapid weight-gain, but you almost always gain more than you lost.

its best to average 2 lbs a week!! otherwise you can gain it all back. just eat a sesible diet and excercise. even just walking is a great way to lose. i did it and lost 40 lbs in 5 months. once you lose it try to maintain and stay with sensible eating!!! the very best of luck to you. i know how hard it is but you can do it!!!!!!!

yes. a good way is to take soya flour whisked up with fruit juice three times a day instead of meals; very few calories but keeps up the protein and vitamin intake, but you would need to take extra vitamin and mineral supplements

2 pounds a week is healthy. So, no. You're just cutting your life in half. Yo-yo dieting. Once you stop 'dieting' you'll put on all the weight you lost and more.
It's really bad for you and you'll feel terrible. Lose weight the senisble way. 2 or 3 pounds a week by eating fresh, healthy foods with the occasional treat and excercising more. e.g. going out for a nice walk for half an hour in the evening!
Goodluck and don't torture yourself- lifestoo short. But be determined to loose the weight. You can do it!
