just make sure they don't restrict blood flow and that they aren't too heavy of a load.

Probabaly not at this time of your life but it could come against you in later years in the form of arthritis etc. Older people are suffering from doing abnormal things to their bodies, including overeating which puts extra weight on their legs and ankles.

I've heard they're bad for the joints.
