It depends on the type of bread. Whole grain bread is the best for you. It has the most nutrients and your body has to spend more calories breaking it down. White bread is the worst because it is processed and easily turned into sugar. Their are many different opinions on if bread is good for you, especially on a diet. In my opinion, bread is fine, as long as its in moderation. Just watch the carb count on your breads - for example one bagel is equal to 5 slices of loaf bread. That adds up quickly. Also try to eat more carbs in the morning and reduce them throughout the day. This will help to keep your energy level adequate through the day, but avoid "left over" carbs that become sugar then fat while you sleep. Exercise, eat several small health meals and you will not only look great, but feel great which is much more important.

Carbs or carbohydrates are your bodies main source of energy, especially short term. It is the easiest for your body to break down into glucose that your body utilizes for energy. Without carbs, your body enters "starvation mode" and utilizes fat as its main energy source. While this sounds good on the surface, your body also slows down metabolism and other process to conserve energy. You will feel tired and lethargic, the opposite of how you want to feel, especially when your trying to exercise!

There are a lot of people who are going to tell you that it is full of carbs and to stay away from it, but I'm here to tell you that it is a grain product and you should have 5 servings of grains a day

Bread is great and essential. I do suggest staying away from white bread and go for whole grain or whole wheat. You can't go wrong with bread and is essential for a healthy diet.
