How much should I weigh? I am 5'4" and 90 lbs.?!

Question: I'm a 17 year old female. I'm 5'4" and I only weigh about 90 pounds. I have always, always, always been skinny. (I weighed 50 pounds when I was 10 years old, but I have no clue how tall I was.) My friends always tell me I'm so skinny, and I think I am too. It's not like I try to be skinny. I eat like a pig and don't exercise at all. I basically do everything you're not supposed to do when you want to loose weight, but I never gain anything. I hate it when people tell me I'm skinny. No, I don't want to be fat. I just want to look healthy. Girls always complain about trying on clothes that are too small, but I guess they never realize that there are some people that constantly try on clothes that are too big, even when trying on the smallest size. I'm tired of getting asked "are you anorexic?" because I'm not. About how much should I weigh, and how can I gain weight?

-Thanks.

You should weigh about 110 or 120. It sounds like you have a high metabolism try some protein shakes and you need to eat six times a day break feast then a snack like fruit and cottage cheese then lunch eat chicken or fish then another snack like more fruit and a shake then dinner then a snack. If you eat a huge lunch then don't eat again for hours your metabolism is so fast that it burns those calories then it starts using nutrients from your muscles thus making it hard to put on weight. You should have a gram of protein per pound of body weight. Protein is not just for guy's. Drink plenty of water and get plenty of fruits and vegetables. You can also find a website that will calculate your weekly or daily calorie needs then remember if you add 500 calories per week you will gain 1 pound per week. hope this helps you. Oh yeah and lifting weights helps also do light weight with higher reps.

add another 20 pounds, and you be as beautiful as you can be.
: )

Please check the following site for detailed charts. Good for future referecne too.

Your weight is alright, but if you continue to not exercise, you will gain weight.

Sometimes it's just genetics. Is your mother or father real small?
My cousin has a real thin father, and she eats like crazy, yet she weighs only about 95 lbs. She'll never get any bigger. And she's had 3 children. I envy her because I have the opposite issue. Big parents on both sides, so I have to constantly battle getting too chunky. Be happy with who you are!

Well I'm 16 and 5'4, and I was always underweight and my doctor put me on tablets that made me gain enough weight just to be healthy, so I'd say a healthy weight for you height and age is around 110lbs. Just see a doctor about it, they'll help you out

umm ya another 15-25 pounds would be good. maybe exersise? you would get some muscle. i know a kid who is too skinny and he talked to his doctor and his doctor gave him some foods and good ways of gaining a bit of weight, so maybe do that. But if your healthy you dont really have to worry about it.

omg you are like my twin. i like being skinny but not really skinny. i do want a little more meat on my bones. whats helping me gain weight is eating a really big meal right before i go to bed. i know its not the healthiest choice but it helps me gain weight. im 5'4 and weight 88 pounds. i swear we're sisters. ugh i hate it when people call me anorexic though. it pisses me off. anyway. yah. i guess thats it lol

id say your a bit skinny, look at your hands and tummy, if they are really boney, then your too skinny

if your going to gain wieght i suggest you do it properly by eating fatening things that arnt bad for you, like milk, cheese, meat ect... dont go pig out at mcdonalds e veryday wth 20 big macs

try gaining muscle with it too at the gym, make yourself healthy!

p.s your short as hell! :D

try to get up to 125. then u will have some meat on u and a nice booty lol! don't feel bad, u just have a high metabollism, many girls would kill to have that. don't let them get to u. maybe they jealous because they have to watch what they eat and u don't.

Don't worry about what others say. Infact, seems like their jealous.

I'm 5'4" and when I was your age I weighed 120lbs and I was a cheerleader, obviously very active, I looked good. I would say between 110lbs to 120 lbs....But don't worry so much, eat healthy and wear bigger sweaters, and if you gain, you gain, don't let friends determine your mental status in life.....

You could use the same methods as body builders for gaining muscle bulk. This is not fat but muscle, healthy body mass.

Bodybuilding.com has resources for nutritional supplements as well advice for exercising that could help. Here is what I found there,

" Ectomorph Somatypes:

A definition of a hardgainer is the naturally skinny person, who no matter what he or she eats, always seem to remain the same body weight.

This is what Dr. William H. Sheldon referred to as an "ectomorph" somatotype when he came up with the theory sometime in the 1940's. Sheldon's theory states that human bodies are divided into three main somatotypes:

The Ectomorph
The Endomorph
The Mesomorph

In a nutshell, the ectomorph is the naturally skinny person who has trouble gaining weight, whether in the form of muscle or fat. The endomorph on the other hand has the opposite problem, it is too easy for a person with this body type to gain weight. "

Anyway, try finding out more about how bodybuilders do it.

You could be suffering from hyperthyroidism. go get some blood work done and check it out! I would assume 125 is a healthy weight for you, but its whatever you feel comfortable at!

Your ideal weight would be 120 lbs so you are actually 30 lbs below your ideal weight.

Plenty of nuts such as peanuts, almonds and cashews might help as they contain about 700 calories per 100 gm and are rich in potassium, magnesium and iron.

Hi,

I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it (it's 100% natural). The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at
http://www.easy-diet-fit.us where they have a free trial and you only pay $6.95 shipping and handling.
Good luck!
