The best way to lose weight is NOT to starve yourself. Trust me, I have tried it a million times, never works. Eat healthy, and limit yourself to only fruits and veggies as snacks. If you really want some junk food, suck on a few ice cubes. Exercise for atleast 20 minutes every day: Jog on the spot while you are watching TV, or do some sit-ups on a yoga mat. Just remember: The weight is not going to all melt off in one day. You will probably lose 1 to 2 pounds every week, but in a few months you will be much slimmer. It worked for me, so you should give it a shot.

My wife started attending the gym at the same time I did around this time last year. In that time her body shape has changed and she has gotten somewhat heavier... heavier than ever before in fact.. but she looks so much more healthy for the exercise. Weight isn't everything... toned firm muscles weighs more than fat does. Toning muscle takes time... but it is worth so much more to your health than the latest fad diet for dropping a few kilos in a hurry.
