Why is anorexia so common in the states?!
Question: I am researching about anorexia and eating disorders. Recently, I found out that the U.S. is super common of this. For example, high school girls and teenage girls throw up at the school bathroom, they don't eat, etc. I mean it's not that they wanna be fit, it's that they wanna be STICK THIN! I saw this reality TV show and it was about a 5'5 girl I think who weighed about 120 and she suffered from anorexia and she was 'fat'.
I don't get it! I'm 5'6 and I weigh110 oh, I'm asking this and I do not live in US and I'm not american! I don't live in North America. So that's why I don't know. Where I live, that's not common at all, like we know what it is and bulimia and stuff, but it doesn't really happen here. And also, why is peer pressure for girls to be SO skinny so common there? I need help 'cause I have no idea I've been there but I don't know. So plz help me tell me some factors that you think cause peer pressure in the teenage american girl/woman to be so stick thin

The media promotes unhealthy weight for females
they do not wanna be like the others in america
I don't think that is too much more common in the states than in any other place but it may be because so many have an idea that Americans are obese and now American are afraid that they too will become obese.....just taking a guess.
If you count the percentage of Americans to other countries, I seriously doubt if there is much of a difference. You may hear more about it, because of movies and television shows that are shown in other countries. Bulimia and anorexia are both disorders of the mind, as much as anything else.
