Is it as effective, to work out 1x per week for 2 hours, or 3-4x per week for 1/!

Question: I have a baby and it is easier for me to get one bigger chunk of time to work out (2 hours) vs. getting 1/2 hour a few times a week.

It's more effective to do the 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week.. It speeds up your metabolism and burns calories each day instead of just one day a week.

It depends if you are talking about strength training or aerobic exercise. You can almost get the same effectiveness from one big exercise as several little ones if you are strength training, but you will definitely get more effectiveness from 3-4 smaller workouts throughout the week with aerobics.

Anything over 1 1/2 hours is catabolic....the opposite of anabolic. The body will begin breaking down muscle fibers instead of building.
