Baked not fried food-what healthier are they than fried food?!

Honestly...I don't think much. A lot of the baked items are then mixed with wheat flour and certain chemicals to create the "crunch" (which can mean more calories or carbs). I would just check your items and make sure they don't contain saturated fats or mono sodium glutamate (MSG) ...and then try to go for things that were fried in a healthier oil like sunflower or peanut as opposed to canola or vegetables. My best option would be to hit a local health store or organic grocer like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Fresh Market, etc. (or even try the organic section at Kroger, publik's, etc.) and go for an organic snack. They haven't been chemically processed or contain the chemicals and fat saturation like the normal treats...you wont pack the pounds like the normal ones either. The chemicals and processing is what makes the food unhealthy (like instant noodles or rice...strips all the fiber so it enters your blood stream 10 times faster resulting in too much insulin and sugar which causes the body to store it as fat.) My fav is organic banana chips. Still have the crunch and flavor of a chip and a little sweetness..perfect healthy snack...but just a few...bananas are high on the glycemic index as well. good luck...Lays baked chips are a better alternative to pringles or the regular Lays as well...fried in sunflower oil and all potato...no wheat flour...but again..that is very over processed...try organic potato chips...very good.

fried food is the worst because it adds so much fat and calories, while baked food doesn't add any extra calories or fat.

It depends what the other option is fried in. Usually, they contain quite a bit less fat.

Actually if you were to flash fry a food it is very healthy because the grease is so hot that it only takes a few moments to cook and the grease doesn't penetrate. However, most prepackageds and restaurants don't do that so baked is a better option but that doesn't mean fat-free

Fried has trans fat, extra fat unneeded. Baked does not add fat, some times it subtracts fat. Its basically because of the level of fat. your heart would be in risk if you had to much, and you would be obese.

The problem is the fat and cholesterol in the oil used in frying. If you fry use olive and vegetable oils. Balance everything with more fresh veggies and lean meats. Baked potatos (w/o the sour cream or butter) are good but baked potatoe chips may not be much better than the fried.

The baked foods have the same nutrients as fried foods, minus the extra fat content necessary to frying. Too many fats in the diet are cause of a number of health problems. Avoiding deep fried foods can minimize the effects of longterm conditions that effect the heart and circulation, among other things.

baked food does not contains as much oil as fried food.

and the food that is fried will loss their nutrients and it is not very healthy.
