by christmas thats not much time but probably 18 pounds or less if he really tries telll him i said goodluck!

3 pounds. he should eat fruits and vegetables

Now before Christmas tell him to stop drinking the soda and drink a gallon of water a day.

Fruits and vegetables and grilled chicken breast till Christmas and do sit-ups 500 a day.

250 in the morning and 250 before bed.

Now after christmas tell him to do my diet plan below and watch the weight shed off :)

to get started no soda drink a gallon of water a day spring or distill no tap water!! or crystal light for your meals.

Lunch eat a grilled chicken breast vegetables with light oil or margarine and a fruit.

Dinner eat a tuna or chicken salad and a small cut of vegetables and a fruit.

no eating after 7pm !!

do 250 sit-ups in the morning and 250 sit-ups before bed.

Try this for 3 weeks and see the difference only if you really want to loose weight.

P.S.
American Whey protein is also good for a replacement meal.
Good taste and goes down smoothly.
Been taking it for 5 yrs now.

Good luck:

Let's say 5 pounds maybe. 30mn of esercise per day is not enough to lose 20 pounds. And watching only his drinks is probably not enought either. he'd also have to watch when he eats, and what he eats. As for exercise, he'd need at least an hour per day ( you really start losing calories after 20mn excercise).

With Christmas only a week away I can't imagine him loosing more than 5lb, these things take time and a gentle start is a good thing.
Tell him to avoid the fatty things, and junk food.
Lean red meat.
Skinless chicken.(Both grilled under the top element in the oven.)
No sausages, frankfurters, hot-dogs and pizza. KFC McD's etc

Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables etc.
