When will my moment of realization come???!

Question: I am 100 pounds over weight. I have been heavy most of my life, but I have been in some sort of comfort zone all of this time. I am by no means comfortable, I hate being overweight. I have never really tried to lose weight, although I have thought about it for years! Every time I have set my mind to do this it does not last more than a couple of days. Then I am back to my ways. I am killing myself and I know this. I hear of so many weight loss stories where they have had their "moment of realization". I have not had mine yet. I want that, because without that I will never lose this weight. You would think stepping on the scales and seeing that number would bring you to it. I am a mother of 2 (3 year old and 7 month old). I want this for me.However do I begin? I am scared and I fear failure. I feel it has a hold on me until it kills me.
PLEASE BE KIND: This question is not here for someone to poke fun..please move on if you intend on doing this. I do not need your smart comments.

just take it slowly, start by cutting out maybe one week soda, then the other high sodium.it's not a moment of relization you need,it's a wake up call.dont be lazy and wait for you "moment".go at it.becuase maybe you might never have that realization some may have.i suggest getting a gym membership, and take things slowly, and go to the top

dont try to hit for your goal, aim it

hope that helps hun

The best way to quit helping yourself to fail, is to find another person with the same goal and buddy up...have them rant to you and keep you on track..you be their best critic and them you.

Do some excersises together, be within a phone call of each other and be there to support each other through thick and thin..the moment will come about half way through the process, when you get passed that do or die moment and you realize that all your life this is what you could do, but wouldn't allow yourself the satisfaction of having..so often we feel the need to punish ourselves...free yourself from the need to be self defeating and instead look in the mirror and tell yourself " I deserve this!!! I am a beautiful person!!!"

the best thing you can do is start off slowly. always remember the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady wins the race. what you need is a lifestyle change, start eating healthier, switch to water instead of other beverages and lead by example. always remember that if you stay sedentary the chances your children will be that way increases drastically, so don't just do this for you, do it for them too.

use a nutritional/exercise log to diagram how much you eat and what you eat along with what you do for exercise and how many calories you burned doing that (there are calculators on the internet). when you can see the gains you are making it will provide even more motivation, and WHEN you keep it up, you will see a new you in the mirror and that will provide even more motivation.

leave reminders around your house and at your job, research weight loss and subscribe to a fitness magazine. anything you can do to keep your mind focused on the job at hand (weight loss) will provide even more motivation. another thing is to find a workout partner, everything is easier with somebody else and you will be less likely to skip a workout or slack off with somebody else there to keep you honest. hope this helps and best of luck to you!!!

Your realization of the problem is the first step. Start slowly, add 20-30 minutes of exercise a day. Put the kids in a stroller and take them to the park. Cut out the junk food.Eat smaller portions.
My roommate and I are both into dieting and exercise, we don't keep junk food in the house at all. We both also write down everything that we put in our mouths. Our food diary's go everywhere! If you can afford a trainer, or a class at the gym, I would suggest that. I had my moment of realization two years ago. I have had lots of ups and downs but have lost over 80 pds. Surround yourself with people who are encouraging.
