Oh sweetie you sound perfectly normal to me, you are only twelve, you are too young to be worrying about weight. I do understand about the pressures of this stupid world to be thin! Believe me I am 5'1 and around 140. People stare, people even refuse to make eye contact, or won't even speak because they don't like the way I look. It was hard on me for awhile but I eventually decided that it was their problem and if they did not like it then to damn bad! If people are telling you that you look good then believe them because you sound just fine to me. I worry about all you young girls out there because the pressure from TV and mags etc can be really bad and as result the amount of people with eating disorders has gone up allot. If you want to lose a LITTLE weight then do it RIGHT, stop drinking soda pop and eating junk like chips and chocolate if you do and eat more fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water and go for a walk every day, keep active! Start out small so you don't shock your body and whatever you do do NOT starve yourself! If you do then your body will reserve the fat instead of burning it and when you do eat your body will just turn it into fat and if you starve yourself long enough your body will shut down and you will die. Please be careful sweetheart! Good luck and do it right!

You're 12. Your body is still growing, you're still adapting to body changes and you probably still have baby fat. Don't worry, this is normal. You'll lose the baby fat in a few years and your weight will even out most likely when you grow taller.
Secondly..you're 5'4". You're taller than your peers, most likely, which means your body is going to weigh more. You're probably active and have muscle combined with baby fat, making it seem like you weight a lot.

If you are worried, talk to your school nurse or ask your parents to take you to the doctor to see if you are overweight. You don't want to engage in any diets because it is crucial that your body receives the adequate nutrients.

All in all, I say don't worry about it. You're normal. Things even out as you grow older.

...you're not supposed to be on Answers at your age... you should be speaking with your parents instead.

Sweetie talk to your mom she would be your best help!!

a lot of people just stop eating but I wouldn't advise that

watch your diet and don't splurge on the candy/soda/ etc.

vegetables

come on, you're only 12. those might be just baby fats. you'd lose them eventually.. wait for another 2 years or so.

well ur parents should know ur body better than us. LOL. consult them before u start dieting or else u might develop some eating disorder and feel faint and not have enough energy to swim. trust me on this one. just cut down on the sweets and eat small portions about 4 times a day.

try going to the Fit channel they have great tips and exercise for losing weights

hoped that helped!!

Well if your athletic and muscular, just so you know muscle weighs a lot more than fat. And at that age its really hard to lose weight because your still growing. You will get taller, and slim out. Don't worry. I kept my baby fat until I was 13. Keep up the excersize, and stay away from scary starvation diets.

xoxoBecca

go bulemic.

nahhh jk. watch what you eat, do sit-ups, crunches, things like that at home. i work out at home all the time, my parents have no problem with it because its bettering my health, although i am older than you...

but you should really try this site:
http://www.women-workout-routines.com/

muscle is denser than fat which means if you are muscly as you say you might weigh more than average!

Ok talk to your parents about what's going on. Don't go and try one of those crazy diets . Tell them how you feel about your body and ask them to help you do something about it.

i think u gotta start joggin and watch wat u eat. u said u love sports, but mebbe u gotta start doin pushups n stuff.

don't turn bulimic or anorexic. eat like more fruits, less junk food EX fast food, cookies, chips. eat fruits and pasta and stuff. stay away from fats.

go workout.

Exercise daily. Eat healthy foods that don't come pre-packaged. Pay attention to the daily serving requirements especially fruit and veggies.

Cut out soda and other caloric drinks. Drink a lot of water.

Yes, you are only 12 but it's the perfect time to get good eating habits.

All you have to do is some crunches and just do some simple excerises in your room and jog in place, but if others dont think you are fat u prolly r not! But if u would like e mail ne time, I just helped some one that has the same prob u do!

i think your fine compared to other girls and i chose all my friends from the inside and if you dont have any friends because of that well you could also look around online and just watch what you eat, do sports, exercise.....i hope i helped you!!!!!!

You are perfect the way you are! You are still young and growing, remember. The important thing is to be healthy. Just make sure you eat right [cut out fatty foods!] and exercise atleast five times a week. If you are looking to drop pounds, try cardio exercises like running or kick-boxing. However, don't try anything too drastic unless you are in shape! Work up to high level activity.
But remember, you are perfect how you are as long as you are healthy :]

You are still growing but you should try to lose weight you weigh more than me and I am 14! Just keep up your sports and try to eat healthier foods. Come to think of it I know a lot of people who did this same thing. Some of them it worked others it didn't. just keep trying till you get the result you want.

Please keep in mind I'm only 12 and my parents have no idea I'm doing this!

I call Bull! A 12 year old does not use that Fraze your probably a 47 year old man.

Hi Stevy. If you are 12 years old, you aren't supposed to be in this part of the world. Unless the responder is a doctor, don't take any of the advice that people give you. You have to make peace with yourself about what fat is and what fat does.

first drink lots of water, water in water out.
sec. start walking after school about a mile A day, and increase it. up and down hills if you can stand it. knee lifts and leg lifts, sit ups and pull ups. push ups and running all will help you to burn up fat.

stop taking in bread or potatoes, those to and sugar will help you to drop your body's fat and burn more carbs.

good luck and Merry Christmas

I wouldn't say your fat, maybe a lil on the heavy side, maybe. When people say, over and over, to drink more water, and eat more fruits/veggies... they aren't lying! That's honestly all it takes. Educate yourself, learn what kind of nutritional values the food you normally eat have, and figure out what your limits for those foods might be. I love carrot cake, but when I found out that it's got 3x as much calories/fat as a regular piece of cake (like white/chocolate bday cake) - I have decided it's not worth it. I've lost 11 lbs in the last 2 months, and all I've done is decided that I've had enough of gaining, I want to go the OTHER way down the scale!

You can do it! Ditch the soda, learn to love water, your body will thank you sooner than you think!

Exercise lots. Eat less. Don't snack. Have less carbs.

sweety dont wory about it but if u want a good diet is not eating bread and doing a lot of exercise and eat meat its good and u shouldnt gain wait by eating that and if u dont like my diet then ask ur mom 2 take u 2 the doctor and then ask ur doctor 2 send u 2 a nutritonist they will help u and trust me it will work i promis

I am 14 and had that same problem, what works for me is running 5 miles a week (sounds like a lot but if you listen to an iPod or get a running buddy it can be fun) also i got rid of all the junk food and started eating thos 100 calorie packs instead of junk and eat lots of fruit and veggies, it worked for me and may work 4 you

Well, My girlfriend should have a similar body type and I don't consider her fat, but heres what you can do.
1.) Cut your meals in half.
2.) Do allot of jugging or walking.
3.) Drink allot of water in place or juice.
If this doesn't work pray to God and he'll give you answer. After all you should have asked him first.

your still growing
wait till your 14 like me before you start worring

Please be careful. It is ok to want to be healthy but keep in mind many images u see on TV and stuff are not what most people are like or should be. Super-skinny is not healthy or attractive. If you want to lose weight you must cut calories and excercise. Eat sensibly. Don't starve yourself. Your body is programmed to store more fat if it thinks you are starving so if you try to lose weight this way it may work in the short term but over time you will gain more weight back. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, drink a lot of water. Make sure you eat a good breakfast as this is the most important meal of the day and people who eat breakfast tend to be better able to lose weight. Also eat small meals more often during the day as opposed to 2 or 3 large meals, and try not to eat after, say, 7PM. Remember too that muscle weighs more than fat so since you are very muscular that may be why you weigh more than you may like to. Finally don't be too hard on yourself (as women tend to be). If other folks don't think you look fat you probably aren't.
