I'd go to the gym, then you can do a mixture of weights, cardio and floor work

Spinning - you'll also have financial weight loss....

Personally I would go with the gym because you can mix up your routine. You can use the elliptical, recumbent bike, treadmill... weight machines, rowing machines... your options are pretty limitless (providing it's a big gym). Spinning, you may not like it too much and then you are stuck, which might mean that you will get unmotivated....

Just my thought!

spinning is just a trade name for stationary bike riding
do a conglomerate of exercises

i personally hate spinning more than anything ever created so of course i'd vote against it. either are good for weight loss and toning however it just comes down to what you LIKE to do most. exercise really needs to be about what you like to do otherwise its too tough to stick with.

i think spinnig is better

Run to the gym and have a swim

I'd suggest incorporating a couple of spin classes into a weekly gym routine, including some weights. Spin is by far the best cardiovascular workout I've taken part in - good for firming up a wobbly bum as well - as long as you stand in the correct position when cycling out the bike ie leaning slightly forward, your back supported and your bum over the seat.

It's not an easy class to take and the first class puts most people off, be prepared for pain in places you never thought existed...!!

I find I'm always motivated at a spin class as long as the tutor has decent music at a decent volume!!

I know the gym is better. I have recently lost 48lbs. Obviously I ate the right foods to lose the weight (and still do to maintain my weight). But joining the gym I know accelerated my weight loss. I still attend 5/6 times a week to now maintain my weight.

Both are good. Take turns to get max benifit, variety will keep you motivated.

Go for a run if fatloss is the goal and use the gym to stimulate muscle tissue.
