Can you motivate me to lose weight?!

Question: I need to lose 20lbs and I can't find the motivation.

None of my clothes fit me, I've got nothing to wear over Christmas and I'm getting stretchmarks on my belly. Despite this, I can't seem to get motivated to lose weight.

I was on WeightWatchers a couple of years ago and I've just put the weight back on. I bought myself a new top that I hope to fit into when I'm slim, but it's not spurred me on. I'd like to get down the gym, but the guy doing the induction is never free when I am, and I'm on tablets that increase my appetite and drain me of all my energy. I'm worried that if I go to the gym it will floor me for the rest of the week, and I'm also trying to keep up two jobs. It's madness, and although I don't eat a lot exactly, IO don't have time to think about exercise, though I know I need to.

I know it's one long complaint, but I'm in a rut! How do you normally motivate yourself? Ideas would be a great help!

What motivates me is my future - not a lot of that if I don't take care of myself. I don't exercise a whole lot - I normally just walk (at a faster-than-normal rate) for 20 minutes, three times a week. I also have a time-consuming job AND kids. A treadmill could be a good investment for you, if you don't have time to visit the track or walk a few blocks in your neighborhood. An MP3 player will also be a good investment in this manner ;-) You might be tired from the exercise the first few days - but, in time, you'll get used to it and you'll feel more ENERGIZED, not tired.

Now, what I DO is eat healthy. Try visiting a nutritionist for a meal plan that will help your hectic daily routine. What is generally recommended is five proportioned meals in a serving that could fit in a bowl the size of your cupped hands. Don't eat anything (except water) after 7:00pm and drink lots and lots and lots of water. I got that little jug you can carry with you everywhere - it is God-sent.

It's okay to go for the occasional (occasional = once monthly) indulgence - I mean I'm not gonna say no to my sexy hubby (yes, "sexy" - after 14 years) when he wants to take me out for dinner :-D

The bottom line is to stick to discipline. In today's society they're always asking you to do what feels good. Well, dieting and exercise don't really feel good (at the beginning), but it's something necessary in order to live a healthy lifestyle. So, push through your "I-don't-feel-like-I-wanna-do-it" thinking and (yes, it'll be clich
