Question: I am 27 years old I am 5'6 and I weigh 140. A family member keeps letting on that I am fat. I think I could lose a couple pounds but I don't think that I am fat. I used to weigh 120

for a five six twenty seven year old 140 is a fine weight. It's normal, completely normal. I used to have a problem sort of like this. If you are too obsessed with what that person said, prove them wrong like i did! Start eating healthy and excerising but I think 140 is a normal weight!

You are NOT fat. for your age you should weigh around 135-150. dont worry about it. GOOD LUCK!

That b!tch is Crazy!! Your not fat. That family member is Jealous. Girls with curves are better than skinny girls that look like 12 year old boys.

I don't think you are fat nor overweight

You are within a healthy, normal weight. If you are comfortable with how you look - you have nothing to worry about. A person of your height can range from 125-160 and still be healthy.

What about your BMI? I would not let what someone else, says about me. Unless, it was my Doctor. If you exercise, and eat healthy you should be fine.

wow if you weigh that then i could only imagion what they would say about me lol.. dont worry about what they think. if YOU want to lose weight, go for it. if your comfortable with the way you are then ignore them. there only jelous oviously if they have to be so critical..

its hard to tell without seeing you as everyone is a different shape and size.

But just a thought, 20 pounds is a fair weight gain, is there a reason for it?

The places where people hold their weight is also an issue.

If you are pear shaped, ie slim up top, but your fat is around your thighs and butt then that is good, you are less likely to suffer heart attack.

However 'apple' shape people, the ones with big round tummy's so bigger on top, are at a much greater risk of heart disease and attack.

Just a thought to keep in mind, don't stress, but if you eat well and exercise regularly weight is only a number, its not a health meter or happiness meter or worthiness as a person meter.

Oh honey...you aren't fat at all!!!! You fall right into the weight scale for women your height! Who is he/she comparing you to? Anyway...it's all about how comfortable you are and not anyone else. Work it girl, you are healthy....that emaciated look is not attractive!

OK you can find your bmi by 730(weight in pounds) divided by your height in inches-and then your height in inches again.
(730w /h)/h or 730w/h/h

730 x 140= 102200
5'6=66 inches
so 102200/66=1548.49 (i rounded)
then you divide 1548.49/66=23.46
23.46=healthy weight

doesn't sound like your fat to me. =D don't worry about it.

18.4 or under is underweight
18.5-24.9 is healthy weight
25-29.9 is overweight
over 30 is obese
