No, I think the higher class people would have been heavier and therefore it would have been admired by society as a whole to be fatter. It was a sign of high status. Funny how things change.

it all depends on the culture. some cultures like fat people. its a sign of wealth that a fat person can afford to buy so much food.

in the early 1900s, i think it was more attractive (in america) for women to have a little meat on their bones. people like marilyn monroe, etc, were a little on the heavier side (she was mid 1900s, but whatever).

its only since the 1990s that all women want to be 6 feet tall and 100 pounds.
