Is it better to do cardio work out before eating or after eating?!


Question: is it better to do cardio work out (mostly running on treadmill) before eating or after eating? cuz when i do cardio work out before dinner, im too hungry to run on the treadmill and stuff, etc.

About a half hour after eating a small meal or snack that's high in protein, that's a good time to exercise. Then after the workout, have a drink and something healthy like a piece of fruit. You need to "fuel and refuel".

i am no expert but i think you should do it after dinner, however wait about an hour for your food to digest. That way you won t barf, and since you have eaten.. you will not be gaining weight again..wheras if youdid it and then ate you waould gain weight again.

It's best to eat if you're hungry.

Wait an hour and fifteen minutes or so after supper and then work out. Working out while hungry can lead to passing out.

I would do it after I eat because I am just full of energy and I wouldn't get as hungry as often.

You are gonna get a lot of answers for both options. You will also get a bunch of different reasons why. I do it before eating so I can burn some fat. You do need some energy before you workout thogh. I would try a protein shake an hour before you workout. Or you can search the net there are a ton of good sites.

If this is not an option. Drink a sports drink with a moderate sugar level one hour before running.

Running on an empty stomach is a tricky thing to do . If your blood sugar is too low you won't be able to finish.

Running within less than one hour of eating is bad too since all the blood in your body will be in your digestive tract possibly making you light-headed.

Better to do your cardio before a main meal because with cardio your blood supply is needed in the large muscle groups like legs, shoulders and arms thus not much is available to your gut for digestion. You can have a protein bar or something real light about 15 - 30 minutes before hand but save the meals for after.

I suppose it would be whichever lets you run harder, seeing as you still have plenty of calories to burn from the rest of your meals.

if your goal is fat burning, it's best to exercise on an empty stomach. your blood sugar is lower and you will start converting fat into glucose much quicker. if your too fatigued to work out, you can have a light high protein-low carb low sugar snack.

Very good question. I used to be un-sure about this question myself, but the answer is to eat after. By eating before your food isn't digested all the way and when you excerise there is a 99% chance that you will get a cramp. Trust me they are no fun.

I saw on an E! fitness special that you burn more calories on an empty stomach.
