Eating out when your trying to lose weight?!

Question: when your eating out it isnt like they post the calorie content on the boxes lol. are there menu items that are ok to eat when trying to lose weight? are there menu items we would believe are healthy but not? lets say im eating at burger king or mc donalds.. if i had to order something, what would be ok? are salads always the way to go? i see places offering healthy menu items.. are they always healthy?

this site list most restaurants and items on the menu with the break down you are looking for. salads will be a surprise to you chills has one with 1010 calories and 76 grams of fat and that's a grilled chicken

fill up on salad

Salads start out ok, but when you start adding in the croutons, dressing, cheese, etc, they can be just as bad if not worse then a burger and fries.
Best options - grilled chicken (toss the bun) no mayo or lite/fat-free mayo if available, side salad with no extras and low fat or fat-free italian dressing with a diet soda or water.

Most the times the "healthy" items, still aren't healthy, they are just a little healthier then the fried and fatty options normally offered. Ask for the nutrition information before ordering. A lot of casual dining (applebees, chili's, TGIFridays) have diet friendly options with nutrition info available.

It's really difficult. You can't go by what they claim is healthy. First avoid all white starch, so at fast food restaurants, don't get sandwiches, they're in white bread, and even when they claim "whole weat" it is not healthy, because it is not whole grain. That's what matters. Certainly don't eat anything fried! You need grilled protein, like chicken breast, not between bread. Even there, you want to make sure the meat is not marinated with lots of fat. As for salads, be very wary of salad dressings. They can make a salad as bad as french fries. Have your dressing on the side and only use half of it. And get rid of the croutons and cheese. You do know to avoid completely any mayo or sour cream? You can ask for Burger King or McDonald's calorie contents, or get it online. Bottom line, it's practically impossible to lose weight eating out, especially at the less expensive places.

on the menu, salads are suggestible.. however, salads bore your taste buds.. healthy stores should serve healthy menu items.. while losing weight, try to keep out from fast food chains because they've lot of preservatives in them..
