How much do you weigh?

Here is a good rule thumb...you may want to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water a day. This is the perfect amount to balance all systems in the body.

Example = 100lbs 50 oz, which is less than the typical suggested amount which is (8) 8oz glasses a day minimum.

One Yahoo Questions friend incorrectly called this amount a MYTH...to which I say please site a credible source for you misinformation. I have read the suggestion of drinking the minimum of (8) 8oz glasses of water for years in the medical literature, if she knows more than the entire medical community I'd love to hear more than her opinion...show me the facts. Her suggestion - that if you eating the right balance of foods you might get an adequate supply of water is flawed, most of us do not eat the right balance of food on a daily basis thus the minimum requirement.

Stick with 1/2 your body weight in oz 100lbs = 50 oz a day minimum.

The effects of not drinking that amount are too hard to nail down to your body specifically, however what you may expect from not having adequate water in your system starts with over all dehydration and it goes down hill from there. Why wait till it gets to that point? Just start drinking the good stuff today...it is fantastic to feel hydrated...

optimally-1 gallon per day is a good estimate. failure to drink enough will cause your kidneys to work extra hard, and your skin wont be as supple. water flushes out toxins..

In a word: dehydrate. I am not sure what the daily requirement is maybe 4 glasses.

If you drink tea, coffee, juice during the day and eat vegetables and fruit you will be getting a large proportion of liquid from your normal diet. Don't get too hung up on the myth of drinking 8 glasses of water a day. (roughly 2 pints). Water is good for you because it flushes liver and kidney however it can also flush out vitamins and minerals. Equally as much as we need water we also need a balanced intake to stay healthy. If you have kidney problems it is a good idea to drink just water in the main rather than tea, coffee etc.

you can become dehydrated and end up fainting, you are also more prone to injury and you wont perform aswell. Also if you dont re-hydrate your body you wont see the effects of exercise on your body as your muscles wont recover as easy and quick. It is recomended you drink 2 litres of water a day

it is a myth that you must drink 8 glasses of water a day

ok now, i drink about 7 glasses aday, and im healthy. you get extra body fat, poor muscle tone, digestive problems, and be poisined to death by ur own waste products. water is a key to weight loss. UR BLADDER WILL ADJUST TO ALL TEH WATER EVENTUALLY, DONT WORRY... 8-10 glasses aday... do you get alot of headaches?? thats because ur not hidrated enough.

atleast 8 glasses.
ive been dehidrated before and it sucks.
first you get a really bad stomach ache. then you start sweating and then you get light headed. then you puke for about an hour.
