Getting into the habit of drinking water, how?!

Question: I never drink water....and I know that I should. I just hate it. How can I get into the habit of drinking water? Also - please tell me what I'm missing out on by not drinking plain water - how does your body feel when you drink the proper amount of water? Has anyone been in my shoes and then started drinking lots more water? What changes did you feel/see? I drink tea/caffeine free sodas all day. (I know it is bad..so, please spare me....I'm asking because I want to change)

i hate plain water! what i do is buy 16.9 oz bottles of water and flavor them with cristal lite packets. i like the pink lemonade, orange, and the immunity and energy flavors. i used to be just like that too and when i drank water more(but i had to flavor it first and it has to be cold) i felt alot better, became healthier, and i can do a bit more then i could before...

I also have trouble drinking enough water. I go through phases where I drink more water, and then I drop off again. But When I do drink enough water I feel more energetic. Two to three liters of water a day is recommended, but if I were you I wouldn't try three liters right off the bat. Try for one liter and then start working your way up. Do you have a Brita filter? I can't stand drinking water straight from the tap and a Brita helps filter out the chlorine taste. I like to put in a slice of lime. Another thing I do is grate a lot of fresh ginger and pour boiling water over it. I make it into a concentrate, and after it cools I add a few drops to a glass of water. Sounds strange, maybe, but it tastes good and ginger is good for your digestive system too.

Good luck!

i can drink plain water when i don't eat but when i'm eating i like to drink water with a little squirt of lemon or lime juice(from those plastic bottles of RealLemon) in it. it's good in cool or hot water and i've read where it's good for you too. when i quit drinking sodas it was like my stomach started to shrink . i quess because no carbonation meant no bloating. also, i figure i saved at least $300+ a year to spend on something else since giving up sodas./// a couple yrs. back ,i went one yr. without caffeine or sugar or meat and it was the best i ever felt in my life and i was amazed at how clear headed i became too.(having a little sugar during the holidays but already sick of it and ready to quit after xmas.)///just read fionas answer. ginger sounds like an excellent idea.too.

Same, I used to dislike water, until my mom decided to get the family healthy and stops buying soda. The idea is whatever is not there, drink water, milk, or make your own drink. It works, I drink average to lot of water. It feel refreshing when I drink water. If u still don't like the taste of water, there's some of suggestions:

? Few drops of lemon juice
? Same as first one but replace with drops of juice from a fresh orange
? Propel fitness water
? Crystal Light
?Etc. Possibilites are endles
