Should a child of nine years old be going to an adult gym to help lose weight?!

Question: What are the health implications if any?

Answers: What are the health implications if any?

Never mind the health implications. Of course it would be beneficial from a health perspective. From a moral perspective surely there are many more fun ways to exercise at 9 years old, walking in the park, at the beach, kicking a ball around. Children arent children long. I dont believe kids should be burdened with "adult stuff" unnecessarily. It could cause more problems than it solves.

I suppose if a doctor has recommended it, and the child is being closely supervised by someone that knows what they are doing then it would be ok.

most gyms won t accept nine year olds - consult your GP before you do any more with him/her

Is there an age limitation for those who wish to loose weight?

no they shouldn't.if they need to lose weight they should
go on a diet and cut down on junk food.

The kid will lose weight if properly supervised and uses an appropriate exercise regime for his age. A sensible low fat diet will also help.

Oops! For "him" read "her".

It should be ok. As long as the child uses the machine properly.

Most gyms don't accept you unless your over 16, but you could bring her to a swimming club or let her join a dance group or soccer club or something sporty or buy her a trampoline.

If a doctor gave the child his/her approval then i don't see why not. =]

no unless a doctor recommended it.

there is a reason that most gyms only accept people of 16 or over.

It certainly is more positive than a 9 yr old kid sitting at home all day and stuffing his face while playing X-box.
The truth is that a 9 yr old kid should not be going to a gym. The kid should be doing sports outside with kids his/her age.
A child could be so easily injured by the machines and gyms are not designed for kids.

If ur kid is obsessive about about weight, then u need to sort it out. She really is too young to worry about that.

If the child has health problems due to her weight or is at more risk of diseases such as asthmas or diabetes then exercise and a healthier diet should improve things. Your sister must bellieve that what she is doing is right by her daughter.
Try talking to both of them and express your concerns (i.e she's too young, over-exertion can harm her etc) and hear your sister's side of the story. Try not to sound too imposing though - this is her child we are talking about, after all.

I don't see the point of that to be honest. Swimming would be better or some other sport like football, horse riding or just walking and eating heathily. A gym club may be too high impact for her/his age.

I don't think so. The child's growth will be stunted if he does weight training.

One thing that will help you lose weight: diet pills. I was one of those who did not believe in them until I tried it. And I tried a few until I found a great one that works (its all natural too!). You can go to
http://www.no-strss-diet-help.us and order you free trial, also you only pay $6.95 shipping and handling. Good luck!

yes it should be alright if the child is only doing cardio but i would not advise the child to do weights
doing exercises with your own body weight is alright

push-ups
pull-ups
chin-ups
dips
hindu squats
bodyweight walking lunges

and have you heard of circut training well there is something els called boxing circut which is great i dont think i need to explain what it is as the name speaks for it's self

swimming is also very good as it works all the muscles in the body without any inpact on his/her joints

but you should try a website called

www.bodybuilding.com
it as lots of usefull information which should help you
but the number one thing to remember is if you want to lose weight you need a good diet

i hope this will help you out
have a merry xmas
