Is it that hard to lose weight?!

Question: I am not hear to be a mean, but I am just wondering why people say they have a hard time losing weight. I have never been overweight, so I can't understand what people are talking about. I don't know... I don't find time in the day to eat more than normal. How can someone else gain so much weight... are they eating all the time? Also... I hear some people who are overweight do not eat that much and that it is just genetics... is this true?

:) Thanks a bunch

it's true that everyone has control over their weight to a certain extent, but in some cases it is a lot harder for one than another to lose weight. for instance, my best friend is so skinny and she eats all the time. If I did that, I'd blow up like a balloon. metabolism plays a huge part and it's partially genetic. the other thing is, people's shape differs. for some people getting thin legs is easy but for my family, it's hard...all the women in my family are short and not hugely fat but not skinny, normal at best, with chubbier legs. some people accept this and do their best with what they've got and others are willing to make huge sacrifices to get the shape/weight they desire.

yes. the first day you try, you lose alot, but then you stop.

Some people have slow metabolism and that can cause them to gain weight, also people on some types of medication.

some people have no trouble losing weight where as it's ver difficult for others.

sometimes it is due to genetics. Also many ilnesses can make it hard to lose/maintain weight.

Usually it has to do with other mental issues more than simply just eating less. Lots of people who struggle with weight loss have a really poor sense of self and that can sometimes lead to other things like binge eating of self sabotaging that makes it impossible to lose wieght easily

another funny thing is that the more someone want to lose weight, the more they think about it and the more they think about food. If they are thinking about food all the time they will tend to actually eat more.
