The ONLY way to lose weight (unless you partcularly WANT to go through a massive heart surgery) is to:
BURN MORE CALORIES THAN YOU CONSUME!

Do lots of biking, rollerblading, walking, running, etc..
Cardio!
You've also gotta lift weights because if you have no muscle mass, you cannot burn fat.
It's like trying to start a car, with no spark plugs!

I've heard the best way is to reduce your intake by 500 calories (that's having water instead of pop, and eating half the pasta, with a side salad to fill up. That's it!)

Drink water.
2 pops a day, with lunch and dinner. THAT'S IT!
Straight coffee's not too bad for you, but if the coffee house stars with a star, and ends in a buck, STAY AWAY! lol
A half a gallon a day is what you should strive for, nothing less, and drink juices, like orange, grape, and cranberry.

Fill up on stuff like fishes (tuna and salmon are 2 of the best), lean meats (chicken, not popeyes, preferably grilled or rotisserie......yummy.......ok, I'm done drooling...moving on.), fruits and veggies (apples, oranges, pears, stir fry veggies with soy sauce, honey and grilled chicken...yummm...)

Here's a few recipes that you can make EASY!!! (I'm a freshman in college, and instead of GAINING the freshman 15, I've lost that and more!)

SUPER EASY HONEY TERIAKY CHICKEN STIR FRY!

What you'll need:
Can all be found at walmart for under $15
(this might make enough for several meals for just you, or it will feed your family for one night)

Go get a bag of stir fry veggies, or find those steamers bags of snow peas, bamboo chutes, baby corn, water chesnuts, and whatever other kind you might like.

Get one of those rotisserie (SP??) chickens from Walmart or Homeland (again...yummmy).

Bottle of soy sauce
Honey
quarter sized peice of ginger (grated or finley chopped)
(or you can buy a good teryaki sauce, try to stay away from sweet and sour though..lol)

Take the meat off the chicken and cut it into roughly fork sized pieces (not quite as big as bite sized)

mix up your teriaky sauce (just add honey to soy sauce to taste)
Bout half a cup should do it, if not, add a little more!
(careful with the soy sauce though, EXTREMELY high in sodium)

put the veggies (and ginger if desired) in the pan on meduim heat, (or in the microwave if using steamers bags) stir untill veggies are defrosted, but not quite fully cooked (bite into a snow pea, and see if it's still cold)
add the chicken to the veggies and thuroughly coat with the sauce.
Once the veggies are cooked to your liking (try to cook as little as possible though, it keeps its nutrients that way), you've got a VERY nutritious meal!
Serve with rice if you like.

Snacks-
Try some just plain tuna and some v-8 for a savory treat (instead of chips, perfect filling midnight snack, btw)
For sweet tooth, try just eating an apple, if that doesn't cut it, get some vanilla yogurt to dip it in.
Eat sherbert instead of ice cream as much as possible.
Of course, one sundae once a week or so won't kill ya.
Fill up on healthy stuff, and then take a bite or two of the not so healthy stuff.
You still get the yumminess of the junk food, but you're already full with good stuff, so you won't want as much.

Do lots of cardio, and an equal amount of weightlifting:
take 1 hour out of the day 3x a week.
do 15 minutes cardio (bike is wonderfull), 15 weights (legs and arms), 15 cardio (try either the treadmill or jump rope), 15 weights (trunk and stomach).
Rest for 5 minutes in between, and if you can't do that much now, start with just 10 minutes, or if you're really not in shape, 5.
Each week, in crease one segment by 5 minutes untill you reach the 15, 15, 15, 15 ratio needed.

You're 17, you have all the chance in the world to start getting fit, and if you do it now, you will save SOOOOOOO much heartache 10 years down the line!!

Hope this helps!!!

do some cardio or go to the gym.weights would be fine and eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of water

do both...starvation is the only alternative, and you probably like food like me so eat healthy and take the stairs instead of the elevator.

you need to do both. Don't wait, every year its to harder keep off the pounds.

My field is in fashion, as a result many people ask me how they can slim down. My answer is always the same: good diet and exercise. But I found this great product (all natural) which I think helps a lot in the process. I recommend you check this website
