Im stuck between two paths on my weight. help?!


Question: So im really thin. Im not sure why i always have been.
Im 16, 5'7, 98 pounds last time i checked.
I dont know if i should try harder to gain weight by taking medicines or something because people, even my own mother!, look at me mean and she always watches me while i eat dinner and gives me looks. Ive never had an eating disorder...i love food too much lol. It really hurts that people assume things like that and ive told my mom she still gives me looks and tells me im too thin but i cant help it!

So most guys dont want to date a super thin girl. I dont know if i should stick to the way i am...and work on becoming a model or if i should go on some supplements or something to gain a little weight and look healthier.

Any support would be great. I just dunno what to do im tired of when im not hungry eating just so people wont think im anorexic and stuff =[

well, if you are feeling well and healthy, and you are eating healthy and of proper portions, then i would say not worry, you need to make sure your diet consists of enough calories, proteins and other nutrients. what does the rest of your family look like? are they healthy of of proper weight?

How much are you eating? Even though you say you love food, if you're eating so little that people think that you're anorexic, that's a bit weird.

you should try maybe to lift weights this will add muscle to your build and bring up your wieght in a healthy way. Try a diet higher in protien this will help your body build health weight!

talk to your mom, tell her what you feel, let her read what you wrote here. you may need to talk to your doctor or your school nurse.

If you are eating a balanced diet with at least 2000calories a day I would not worry what anyone says. You need 1000calories a day just to keep your breathing. If you are an athlete or very active you may need more than 2000 but if you love food I am sure you are eating enough for your bodies needs.

dont gain OR lose weight for anyone else. do what is healthy for YOU. check with a doctor even! you might have an underlying health problem (like type 1 diabetes)

It seems pretty normal to me. If you take a look at different charts, you'll get different answers. I also think we're telling people they can be heavier than some years ago just to make them feel better about themselves. Or maybe to keep the number of fatsos lower.

Really, just look at yourself in the mirror. If you're just skin and bones then you're too thin.

Plenty of unsalted nuts such as peanuts, almonds and cashews might help as they contain about 700 calories per 100 gm.
