Is it true that....?!

Question: Stairclimbing will not only bulk up (make bigger) your thighs, but your butt too?
About three weeks ago, I started stairclimbing. I have seen some results, but I dont want to bulk them up...I want to make them thinner...
Is this true?
What do you all recommend?
Thank you and Happy Holidays.

an increase in muscle mass from cardio will only be seen in the highly untrained individual. basically those that were previously sedentary and participated in no form of sport "may" see a very limited increase in muscle mass.

if it were so easy to increase muscle mass doing cardio I highly doubt that all of us bodybuilders would focus on using free weights.

You will lose the fat and that gives you more definition, keep it up!

It'll tone them, not make them bulky. Assuming you're a female, you don't really have the necessary testosterone for big muscles. You'll just get tighter, more attractive thighs and glutes. If your problem isn't with flab, but with fat, then I'd try cardio or other aerobic exercise. Tone muscles can't be seen underneath a layer of fat, so get rid of the fat first by putting out more calories than you take in. Good luck!

It depends on the setting. If you set the machine at a low resistance (easy) and exercise for long periods of time, then you will tone up, BUT if you set it to a high resistance and exercise for short periods at a time, you will likely bulk up.

any cardio exercise will add some muscle definition up the part of the body that is being used. it shouldn't add too much because cardio exercise is actually counterintuitive to muscle building. this is because about 20 minutes into your session your body runs out of muscle glycogen to use as fuel and then begins breaking down actual muscle tissue and fat for fuel.
