Any pointers on quitting smoking???!

Question: I really want to quit, i am tired of buying them(expensive) and its not very attractive. I've tried the gum and it really didn't help. When I try to quit I just think about them all they time and I try not to. I just wanted to know if there were any ways to make it a little easier??? Thanks!

I've heard good things about Chantix (sp?), a new prescription to help quit.

However, I quit on my own by sort of personifying my addiction. I just said that I was stronger than it, and no matter what it told me, I wouldn't be fooled. I'm a stubborn sort, so whenever I'd start hearing that voice that said, "just one more" or "I can't do this" I'd say that it was just the addiction trying to trick me and that I was smarter and stronger than that. It was what really worked for me in the end. Also, when I did mess up...and I did, several times, I didn't stop trying. I'd just admit my mistake and keep going.

Good luck.

I found other friends who also wanted to quit and we bet money on it. Basically, if you smoked, you had to pay the other people that hadn't smoked. It helps to bet a LARGE amount of money.

If it costs you $500 to smoke a cigarette, you'll quit. Trust me.

can send all your ciggies to me i'll smoke em for you

merry xmas ;)

I've heard the patch works really well.

I tried to quit heaps of times because I felt that I should, I never really managed and I guess its because I did not really have the motivation. Then I started to get really paranoid about the negative health aspects and could not enjoy smoking. I thought about it for a while and came up with the idea that I am such a totally awesome person that it would be a shame for the rest of humanity if I died early and I decided to make a sacrifice so that other people could have the pleasure of meeting me and that they would have the benefit of my company and friendship......

I smoked over 20 years and tried many times to quit. I've used, gum, lozenge, patch and quiting with no help at all. None of them worked.

I just quit smoking and it's been successful using Chantix. It's amazing! You need to try that drug. I warn you, it's expensive...around $300 for the 12 week program.

Once I started taking it....the physical cravings almost went completely away. That left me to only deal with the mental cues to smoke (driving, break time at work, after meals and etc.).

It's amazing. The Dr. loves that medicine too. Everyone at the Dr. office was very positive about the results of almost everyone they treated.

Good luck!

Yes! http://www.rippedcorner.com go to search and read the smoking-related articles to help you get a better perspective.

I have tried everything. CHANTIX was hands down the best thing. That and I just knew I was ready to kick the nasty, discusting habbit.

Good luck to you!
