Yes, it is true. It's the beta carotene in carrots that can turn the skin a tinge of orange. It's more observed in babies because they usually eat more of the orange baby food...carrots, sweet potatoes. Still, you would have to eat alot of carrots to turn orange.

I very much doubt they can turn you orange.

No, it's true but you have to eat a LOT for that to happen. I think oranges and sweet potatoes, too will do that but not sure.

It is definetely possible and I have taken care of a woman that turned orange from eating too much carotene.

Are you three?

No it's true the beta carotine. But a ton is needed!

Its very much true!

When i was about 10 i ate carrots all the time!. My finger nails and hands started to turn a sickly orange color so i stopped..i don't like carrots anymore..

My mom's friend went on a strict diet after her second child all she ate was carrots. Her complexion turned a very light orange no lie I could not believe it when I saw her.I thought she had done one of those self tanning sprays.

The orange pigment in carrots, carotene, can give the skin an orangish tint if enough is consumed. But you would need to eat perhaps a wheelbarrow full of carrots to see that happen.

I really do not believe that your skin will turn orange ,but you could have too much Beta Carotene in your system, so it's best to limit the consumption and eat a mixture of vegetables instead.

to some extent, your woman is correct. my mom and dad drink alot of carrot juice and it starts to give the soles of your feet and your palms of you hands an orangy color..it can also eventually go to your skin too. you have to intake alot of carrots (especially if you're just eating them!) to get orangy skin but it most definitely is possible.

yes, it is possible. someone would have to eat a TON of them, the discoloration is called hypercarotenemia, and mostly effects the palms. It's more of an orange-yellow tint not really glowing orange.

Your wife is right...it's a result of too much beta-carotene in your system.

When my daughter was a baby, she loved carrots, so I'd cook them myself and feed her a few with lunch and dinner everyday. After a while, she developed an orange hue. The pediatrician verified it was from too many carrots. It went away on its own after a week or so.

That happened to my friend's son when he was a baby. They took him to the doctor because his skin was orange and the doctor told them it was from feeding him too much strained carrots.

NO, It's Very True.
Give everyone a laugh and try it out -- I'm serious!!
