Can protien shakes be used as a meal replacement?!
Question: I don't want to gain or lose weight. I'm about to start teaching so I'm looking for a breakfast meal that will keep me full for a good while. I get hungry pretty easily so I'm always looking for things that are healthy and will keep me full for substantial periods of time, around 3-4 hours. I work out 3- 4 days a week but nothing rigirous, because agian I' not trying to build muscle or lose weight. Just maintain my current 124 lb and keep my heart healthy. Are protien shakes right for me?
Thanks for the help!

It really all depends on the drink. Most protein drinks are not for meal replacement, although there may be some.
If your looking for a meal replacement, try something called "Muscle Milk" or something else that specializes in a HIGH calorie shake AND its loaded with protein. GOOD LUCK!
Protein shakes are not very filling. You could slim fast or eat small meals between classes
The protein powders available at nutrition stores generally have about 25-35 g or protein, and very little carbs. Taste is not a highlight, though. Add a packet of equal, and a little fruit juice, perhaps half juice and half water. That would improve the taste and get the carb count up a bit.
Good luck!
Oh, I have been doing this for almost 3 months (2 meals this way, but without the carbs), and have lost nearly 60 pounds.
YES IT CAN
yes they are actually good for you, look for a low sugar content though
