Fat loss: light or heavy?!


Question: i have a pair of dumbbells i want to loose fat, so should i do lots of reps with low weight or few reps with alot of weight?

Lots of weight and low reps. Take 10 reps per set, 3 sets. Make sure you are struggling on the last set otherwise, it is too light.

But don't bite off more than you can chew. ^_^

ADD: Building more muscles will make you lose fat as muscles take a lot of calories to maintain. However, a little cardio will help.

And no, you might not lose too much weight. This is because muscles are heavier than fat so the more muscles you build and more fat you lose, you might not see much difference on the scale.

for fat loss its best to keep tight control over your caloric intake, do high intensity cardio and also for max fat burning potential use the lighter weights with several minutes worth of reps.

If you want to lose weight then you need to combine resistance with cardio. Use lighter weights with high reps(heavy weight, few reps= muscle gain). Do resistance training about 3 days a week and cardio 2-3 days a week on your days when not doing weights. It will make you lose fat fast man.

It's great to use weights as part of a workout plan, but that alone is not going to help you lose weight. I needed to lose over 50 pounds. lifting weights will only build muscle. you first have to do cardio 3 times a week for at least 30 min to burn away the fat. start out with low weight to strengthen your muscles then over the weeks do more reps and sets with more weight. example: do two sets of 12 reps for each arm. three times. your dont want to over extend yourself because you can end up sore for the next few days. you want to feel a slight burn. if you dont do cardio and burn off the fat first your muscles will get big under the layers of fat and your arms wont have the defination...they will just look big.
