Eating before bed bad?!


Question: I'm trying to gain weight but I heard that the acid from your stomach can burn holes in your esphogous while your laying down. This happened to me a few times and I'm not sure if I should stop or not. So is eating before bed bad or not?

Just to clear this up, there was this stupid rumor/fad thing that went around before that was telling people not to eat for a certain amount of time before bed. That rumor is totally false.

If you're worried about acid reflux, have you tried changing the foods you eat before bed to ones that don't cause as much acid? You can also buy generic Pepcid and that works great, too, for cheaper than the name brand. I used to have really bad heartburn and that always helped me. However, nothing will help once your esophagus gets burned by the acid. When that happens, you just have to tough it out until it heals some. That's why it's best to prevent the acid from coming up in the first place. You may want to consider seeing your doctor to rule out any abnormalities that may have developed in your esophagus. If the acid gets bad enough, it can burn up the little flap that keeps the food/acid from coming back up.

No its not bad! It would be bad if you had been eating all day! But just wait like 30 minutes before just to make sure you dont get hearthburn because I do!

Mostly everything you eat before sleeping is absorbed. So eat some high fat foods before you sleep, but be careful as they may interfere with your sleep habits.

I eat before I go to bed and nothing happens? Then again, I'm talking like a snack not fried chicken. Anyway, load up on the peanut butter. I have wrestler friends who use peanut butter to keep their weight up.

all i know is that if ur tryin to gain weight, eatin b4 bed will most definitely do it...cuz it did it to me!!! see i work at night from 330 to 12 and during the day all i do is sleep most of the time and i eat when i get off. its like after i take my bath, time to eat and then im fallin asleep...i went from a true size 8 to a 14 within like approx. 6 months...so.....

eating before bed speeds up the metabolism yes it does i know it!! it's not in the text books but i can see it every day!!

all the food is converted into processing the fat
