Anorexic confusion :S?!

Question: I've never had anorexia, not really. Last time I was weighed a few weeks ago I was 73lbs, and 150cm tall (60inches), and I'm only 12 years old (15.03.95). My BMI is 14, and under 20 is underweight. I don't know why I'm so underweight because I eat loads (literally) and sometimes I even eat when I'm not hungry.
Also, my friend tried to make me anorexic once (long story). And 'I'm so fat' got drilled into my brain. It was a few months ago but it won't go away. Whenever I look at myself I feel so huge and I don't know why because I can see myself as I actually look like which is thin but I think I'm fat. And sometimes I end up skipping meals because of this.

Basically, I don't understand why I'm underweight when I eat loads. Any help with that?
And it's like I have the mind of an anorexic but I can see myself for real, (if you understand that). Any help with that to?

Rant over, but it's because I'm so confused so please help.

I imagine at twelve you have not hit puberty fully, i'm only guessing of course correct me if im wrong. Anyway, it is very common for young girls like yourself to be very small and light, and it is obvious from what you have described that you are certainly very thin, but you sound healthy. Remember BMI is not always accurate, for example a cronically obese person can have a BMI of 30, yet so can an athlete or a body builder, because the muscle weighs more than fat.

I have an eating disorder, which blossomed from an obsession about my weight. I now battle with days of abstaining from food and making myself vomit when i do eat either by sticking my fingers down my throat or drinking emetics. I am on and off the scale about five times each day.
It is a pitiful existance. So please, talk to someone if you have any body image problems, and never ever skip another meal, because it will end up ruining your metabolism and you can gain weight from it.

I hope this helped, take care.

I'd definitely talk to a parent or my school nurse. You seem to have a skewed body image, which can (if it hasn't already) lead to anorexic behavior.
My cousin works with anorexic & bulemic teens and adults and recommends the book "Stick Figure" by Lori Gottleib. It's a book the author wrote about her own experience as a young teen with anorexia. Many of the things she perceived about herself are some of the same things you're mentioning in your post.
Bottom line is, talk to an adult who can help you.

Your friend obviously drilled it into your brain that you are fat, which clearly you are not. If you don't eat enough food you will not reach your potential height and might stay short, and you are thin because you have a fast metabolism (lucky you!). So eat!

That sounds really upsetting. I am sorry you are going through that, whatever the cause may be.

Assuming you honestly do eat a lot---it sounds to me like you have a really fast metabolism----Tyra Banks has one, as well, and she has to take a prescription to help block that out. She said it made her miserable when she was a kid, getting made fun of cuz she was skinny and all....but there really are sometimes medical conditions that make it hard for people to gain weight, and you and your parents should be talking to a doctor about what is to be done. You might get put on some meds to help you get up to a healthy weight, or you might just get put on a specialized nutritional plan that a trained nutritionist helps you come up with.

It's good that you know you're not fat, because you are really not. Please do get some help from your parents or a school counselor!

when u say loads exactly how much do u eat? do u skip meals? do u excersise or purge? ppl tend to say that they eat alot but idk if its true since evry1's idea of alot varies. for me i find a cup of rice with veggies and meat alrdy alot but i know its not. secondly ur 12....ppl before 20 tend to have smaller bmis then an adult does since we're still developin, look at a child bmi calculator, not an adult one just yet.

u may have a fast metabolism as well. if so then even if u eat alot, u'll burn the food away
