I remember there was a food pyramid in school they taught us about the four food groups. We were told to eat moderate portions and get plenty of water and stay active exercising and get plenty of rest. I would bet money that balanced living is the key to a healthy body and a diet that leans more heavily on natural foods and cutting out processed foods will be very beneficial. I shop in the organic section of the supermarket but also look at the label still for ingredients i need and those to avoid. I like whole grain breads with no added sugar and lean meats. A variety of colorful vegetables are always what I crave to eat when it comes to a bigger meal. Most foods are weighed down in starches, preservatives, and sugary ingredients that hinder us from keeping our weight healthy. I have a day set aside a week where I eat bad foods because I can do it. Balance I think is the key but here is my list for when I want to drop weight.

1. I drink double the amount of water I usually would and drink unsweet tea.
2. I prepare meals that tend to have all of what I need on my plate ( lean meat, vegetables, whole grain breads, and one raw veggie or fruit.)
3. I buy organic broth with reduced sodium and make my own light soups.
4. When energy kicks in after eating, I do light exercise to burn off the food energy that tends to run high after eating.
5. Sometimes if I don't feel too much like eating, I just don't and drink plenty of water.

before this turns into the great debate on which diets work and which don't, please go buy some tupperware containers.

portion control will always be one of the most important factors of being healthy. people have the tendency to hop on a diet train and eat a ton of healthy food because they haven't planned their meals and aren't satisfied. limit yourself to avoid the compensatory binge meals.

take your food to work/school/whatever in your preset containers and let that be your meal. you need to eat until you are not hungry, not until you are full.

no no no no no.

first, DIET is the WAY you eat NOT something you go "ON"

2nd, cut out WHEAT, SUGAR, PROCESSED food (ALL fast food) learn (do a search online) for "the whole foods diet" this is a way of eating that is NATURAL and gentle on your body.

cut out ALL soda. drink WATER only 64-128 ounces.

special k is bullshite. milk powder? wtf? natural and whole.

AND EXERCISE....

Lean Pockets.
Seroiusly.

i buy loads of pitta breads so i dnt eat anymore normal bread for a while and i find that with pittas i can fill them without using a spread or margarine. i try to have as much water as possible, avoid processed food or ready meals, i stop alcohol completely only buy uht skimmed milk and whole grain cereal. meat i stick to chicken or turkey and cut back on red meats as much as possible. and i reduce portion size as much as possible without starving myself, i try not to eat later than 7pm and i eat most at breakfast so i burn it naturally thru day in wy work etc
