How much cardio to lose weight?!

Question: I am strength training at least 3 times a week for an hour each with a personal trainer.
I'm trying to lose 10 pounds... currently am 125 lbs and 5'2''.
Currently on a specific eating plan ranging between 1000-1200 calories a day [my basal metabolic rate is about 1400 a day].
My question is... how much cardio should I do to jumpstart my fat loss? How long, how often, on which machine [treadmill, elliptical, etc], at what intensity, etc?

10 points for best answer!
PLEASE HELP!

Also, I'm leaving for vacation in 2 weeks... I'd like to lose at least 1-2 pounds by then. THANK YOU! =)

I have always done tons of cardio. I found that running takes off fat the fastest. If you start running about 3 miles a day for five days a week you should see results fast! Not only does the fat go away.. the muscles get real lean and tone. Hope that helps. :)

Try the treadmill at 7mph for 45 minutes and gradually bring it up to 60 minutes.

Make sure you eat lots of healthy carbs. The best time to eat is right after you've lifted weights... your metabolism will be pumping higher than usual.

Do some weights, too. Then you'll look and feel like you're in shape.

Maybe reduce the strength training to 1 or 2 times a week for a while and doing 45 min of cardio 5 days a week. The cardio will burn fat while the strength training is building up you muscle. But is isn't going to make you bulky but it's helping the fat turn to muscle.

Also since you are adding in cardio you can eat at the minimum 1200 calories a day and still lose weight. You should never go below that amount of calories.

40 minutes to an hour per day, or at least every other day, but the 40min to an hour is the important number -- un-interrupted. There's a target heart rate you need to maintain from beginning to end, your trainer will know. You'll lose way more than 1-2 pounds in a couple of weeks on that.
