All calories should be counted, not just calories from fat. You should try to eat healthier food w/ less fat calories but still count your overall calories. For instance, take your body weight and multiply by 10 to get an approximate calorie count for weightloss. Example: You weight 150 lbs x 10= 1500 calories per day. If you're just counting some calories and not all, how do you know how much you are actually consuming in one day? If you eat healthier foods, like nuts, in excess you will surely gain weight. Its more accurate to calculate all the calories you are consuming. Good luck and keep exercising!

calories let you live. So no, they are not bad.

i would have to say only the calories from fat.

Calories are not bad....but it's easier and more efficient to count calories overall.

If you eat 5000 calories of carrots and only burn off 1500 calories in a day, you will gain weight. All calories count for weight, if you're looking just to lower cholesterol/fat then fat calories will be more important

Calories are fuel for your body.
But if you have to many and don't do enough your body turns the extra calories to stored fat.
So eat less calories and your body will burn some of that stored fuel. / fat from your body.

My nutritionist says that calories are calories and where they come from does not make it any easier or harder to lose them.

calories from fat

Calories are simply units of energy. You have to acquire and expend them regularly to live. Just breathing and circulating your blood uses a few of them. In order to lose weight, you must use more calories than you take in. It happens that those from fat are the same "size" as any others but are more firmly attached and more difficult to lose. You must have a bit of fat, preferably in the form of healthy oil to maintain your health. Just don't overdo any of your eating.

A calorie is a unit of ENERGY...not fat.

Where do you people get some of your sillly notions from?

approx. 2500 calories = one pound. Your body will metabolize carrots differently than fat, but calories are calories. You need some fat in your diet and you don't want to cut calories too much or your metabolism slows down and it's even harder to lose weight. Make 1/2 of your plate vegetables, 1/4 protein and 1/4 whole grains. There's a lot of nutritional information online.

Calories are a measurement of energy. A good diet consists of a balanced combination of all the food groups including fat. The normal acceptable amount of fat you should eat is very small. You will lose weight if 1) you restrict the amount of calories you eat to less than your body burns in say a day. 2) you burn more calories than you eat by doing exercise.

Hi there, Mr. Inta-Fitness here, Let me help you so that you do have an idea an idea that will last you a lifetime :)

Calories are NOT bad, fat is NOT bad, we need them all to survive. If we did not need them then nature would not have made them! The key is to make sure you are getting a balanced diet made up from as many whole/natural foods as possible and as little processed food as possible.

So, basically, avoid anything that comes out of packet and eat plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables, good quality carbs( brown rice , sweet potatoe, basmati rice, rye/wholegrain bread and lean protein (meats with very little visible fat, eggs, raw nuts & low fat dairy).

I could go on for ages here but I'll try to simplify it:

EAT 80% of your calories in the firsst half of the day and EAT ONLY 20% in the evening.Dinner should always be small and only consist of fresh vegetables with no sauce/dressing (lemon juice/seasoning ok) and lean protein. If you look at your plate it should be 2/3 vege and 1/3 protein (no bigger than the palm of your hand).

If you can master this , you will lead have a lean physique and lead a healthy life forever !

Do not be scared of fat - we need a certain amount of it approx 20-25% of daily calories.

Carbs are good and provide energy for us to function - we need approx 50-60 % of daily calories.

Protein is to rebuild and repair all cells in our body ,we need approx 25-30 % of daily calories.

However, the one simple rule for successful fat burning is 'MOVE A LITTLE MORE & EAT A LITTLE LESS' :)
