Question: what's the right way to do it , when im up should my thigh be touching the ground or up on my knees??if i do both do each of then has its benefits???if so what benifits, which body parts??

Your knees should be acting as a pivot point. The rest of your body should be staying flat and straight as a board. Lower yourself until your elbows break a 90 degree plain (upper arms are parallel to the floor), then lift yourself up again until your elbows are extended. Inhale going down, exhale coming up.
Pushups concentrate mainly on your pectoralis (chest) and triceps, and a bit on the shoulders. You can isolate certain muscles more by spreading your hands apart further, or bringing them closer together.
