im underweight too but i see a nutritionist

u need to eat MORE CALORIES THEN U BURN...EAT MORE OF THESE TYPES OF SNACKS IF U WANNA GAIN WEIGHT...

-dried fruit(especially raisins)-instead of fresh fruit
-Lean meats
-complex carbs(oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat bread/pasta)
-peanut butter(put on anything)-or other nuts
-"proto pure" protein bars....each has 300 calories and 32 g protein but are low fat(7-8g), ok carb(around 26), very low sugar(1g), very healthy and delicious...i like the chewy chocolate chip and chocolate deluxe..or the regular "pure" protein bars but they are smaller and only have around 180-200 calories and 20 grams of protein
-loose granola or muesli(as a good snack)
-potatoes and corn instead of greens
-drink boost plus and ensure plus(the chocolate is the best) they have 350-360 calories each and have alot of vitamins, healthy fats, and the carbs u need...look them up...there is a difference between the regular and the plus...
-milk/other dairy products
-beans/seeds

MAKE SURE U DONT BURN WHAT U EAT AND HAVE A HEALTHY SNACK BEFORE BED LIKE A PB&J SANDWICH AND A GLASS OF CHOCOLATE MILK..

There's plenty of calculators out there as to, how many calories you should be downing a day. I work out daily downing 4k calories a day and I gain 'maaaaaaybe' 1 pound a week. I went from 135 lbs (5'10) to 150-152 lbs (5'10) over the course of 3 months (My eating went from crappy to much better)

Get your goal set at where you want to be, and just eat, you're probably young enough you can eat whatever you want and get away with it (till your around 24 :P) So stock up on the honeybuns and make sure you do something to keep your metabolism up (It's healthy :P)

MILKSHAKES..they work..im 5'3 and 125..i used to feel too skinny (115) so i finally just tried ice cream and milkshakes && im now 125.

just be glad you're not fat xD

Eat a lot of unprocessed fruits, vegetables and low fat meat. Work out a lot.

I had the same problem.
The best way to gain weight is to change your diet eat 6 meals a day or at least 3 to 4 meals with snacks in between..you can get many calories and still eat healthy
I used a weight gainer..that helps also

weight lifting is a most..helps you gain weight faster, healthier, and you'll get stronger
If you're to young to weight train then sports is not a bad idea

foods high in protein and calories are the best..fish, meat and shakes are good. The most important thing is to be consistent. if not your metabolism will never adapt

YOu should eat lots of dried fruit and granola and natural yogurt, high fat cheese, shakes, peanut butter, chocolate, bagels with cream cheese.... All of these have tons of fat or calories and are great for gained weight. Though you could eat junk food it would not be a wise choice because it is not nutrient dense, so it may not help you grow as well. Plus, if your metabolism catches up with you you can keep eating well just less energy dense foods (fresh fruit, low fat yogurt...)

also baking or cooking your own food is good so that you can have large portions.

My sister lost a lot of weight due to stress and she wanted to gain some weight too. She's been eating healthy and then adding 2 Ensure shakes every day. She does one in the morning and then one at night. She also works out regularly to stay fit. So far she's gained 5 lbs and she's very happy with the results.

If you are a very active person, you should learn to relax, which will slow down your metabolic rate.Weight training helps a person build muscles and increase body weight.
