Question: My parents think i'm good but i know that i'm not. i can barely run a mile [it would probably take 17 minutes] i'm not overweight. actually decent.

Sorry, but you're not going to get fit in one week. After about two weeks, if you've been faithful to a cardio and weight-lifting routine, you'll start to see improvements. Four to six weeks later you'll see even greater improvements if, again, you were faithful to your routine. Depending, it will take your anywhere from a month to three months to get really "fit". There is no magic pill, powder, or shot that will change this.

I don't understand why you want to get fit without your parents knowing. Are you embarrassed because you aren't as good as they think you are? What would lead them to think you are "good"--whatever you mean by that? If you want to get fit for a sport, I can understand that. But I repeat, you will not get "fit" in one week.

Try jogging in place. It really does work, but you have to make sure you're doing it briskly. Swing your arms and lift your legs as high as you can when you're doing it. If you have a playstation (or Xbox will work, I think,) invest in the pad and game called Dance Dance Revolution, which is a lot of fun and helps you get in shape. For your muscles, I recommend you do squats, push ups, crunches, side lifts, and lunges. If you have heavy bags of rice or animal food in your house, you could use those to lift. Heavy food cans work also.

getting unfit probably took a while, so getting "fit" will probably take a while too. don't put a time limit like that on yourself. just start exercising and take your time. there is no magic one week miracle.

i don't think you can get fit by jan. 7th.

but here is a running program that i used and now i can run a mile in less than 8 minutes

scroll down until you see the chart. it is spread out along 9 weeks, but it really works.

Fresh fruit and whole gain breads will help you feel full longer. Forget the "all carbs are bad" idea, just lay off white bread/rolls, white rice and non-whole grain pasta. One thing that will help you lose weight is SNACKS! Yes, a piece of fruit or a (low sugar) yogurt or (low sugar) granola type bar mid morning and afternoon will help you not munch on chips and stuff. Don't skip breakfast.
Increasing your water consumption would be good. Go for lean meats and remember that according to the dietitians a "serving" of meat is 4 ounces... about the side of a normal deck of playing cards. So watch your portions and fill up on fruits and vegetables.
