Uggh. I have a new job and am gaining weight. Advice?!

Question: First of all I haven't had the money to join a gym yet b/c of finances. I do plan to eventually. But here I am at this new job, learning and doing fine. The problem? I'm watching my butt grow at astronomical rates of warp speed. Pretty soon I'll have two butts back there.

I go to the park and walk when I can. I only eat sandwiches while at work (no fast food, etc). I try not to eat large amounts once I'm at home either.

What is the problem and how do I solve it???

try parking further from your job so you get some extra activity without really trying. Add lots of veggies to your sandwiches and start off everymeal with a huge salad but very little dressing. Drink more water or no cal bev. I bet your new job is more sitting than before and that works great for spreading your butt! Anything you can do to up activity will help. Do butt cheek clenches when ever on the phone, take stairs instead of elevator, if thats an option., etc. Once you start thinking about it, you will come up with other ideas as well. good luck!

exercise at your desk?

Drink a lot of water. Eat lots of fruits and veggies while at work. Maybe excersise when you get home from work.

run after work duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

how are u adding weight to your bum pls tell me i need to know

if this job is very sedentary then you have to find a way to fit in more exercise, during lunch or breaks or after work

lots of water instad of juice or soda ( even diet...its dehydrating) and dont eat after 6 pm....i no you will be hungry but it all goes to fat b4 bed

Maybe your sitting all day and that's no helping. Without knowing the job its hard to say. I would recommend that you try to take a quick stroll around the office once every hour or so, it will help.

Good luck

Better diet, eat healthier. Maybe vegetables or salad for lunch. Cut on all sugars and carbs. No fruit juices. Lots of water. Park your car far from the entrance so you get to do some walking. Don't use the elevator but the stairs..

All these will help you lose weight and stay fit.

get up every thirty minutes and do something, for a minute or two. take a walk to the bathroom, or go get some water. keep moving!

go on ebay and look for Claudia Schiffers buns tape it is cheap and it works . This will help till you can go to the gym .

first of all stay away from bread very fattening, second try exercising at home

Do you sit a lot at your new job? I noticed when I got a desk job I was sitting and snacking a lot.

Are you in a back office or visible to customers? I saw a thing awhile back where people with desk jobs replaced their office chairs with yoga balls, I though that was so cool!! I am a receptionist though, it wouldn't look so good to the people coming into the college.

Try to stand up a lot and stretch at regular intervals. Pace behind your desk as much as you can. If you're on the phone a lot, see about getting a headset and talk on the phone as your stand. Get a stressball and squeeze it a lot, do anything you can to be as active as possible with your body as you are sedentary.

Those are all the tips I have!

stress could play a key factor here..... when stress goes up so does certain hormones in your body which stores fat (it's the fight or flight response)..... your body thinks it's in trouble and starts to store fat in case something dramatic happens (like food runs out)..........

so....... learn to relax, don't fret about weight (because yes, that too will add to the stress)..... drink lots of water, learn to incorporate more fresh veggies and fruits....... and take a multivitamin.........

one particular salad that I LOVE and is so easy to make is all spinach leaves, sliced fresh strawberries, sunflower seeds, crumbled bleu cheese (not TOO much) and a yummy balsalmic dressing.......... it's SO good and SO good for you! give a try! (don't like bleu cheese? substitute a diff one, just don't go cheese crazy! :P)

The same thing happens to me! I combat it by working out in the morning before work even if I'm only walking 30 minutes. I get out at lunch and walk again, then walk and do exercises in the evening. I do squats, crunches, side bends, and stretching. I've been able to lose weight now. Good luck.

Don't eat too much bread. Salads & fruit would be good. And yes, drink lots of water. Don't eat before going to bed. Good luck.

It's a desk job right? You should try to eat a very lite lunch. Even a protein shake would do. You don't have to go to the gym to work out. I had the same problem, so I started walking on my lunch hour 30-45 minutes a day. Then I would go home and do light aerobics a few times a week (try a DVD workout). The problem with desk jobs is that you don't burn as many calories as other jobs were you are on your feet all day. So you have to make adjustments and get used to them. It sucks! But good luck!

Hello,

Try starting a food log (see link). A food log will help you pin-point the times of day when you're eating the most and what foods you should modify or try to reduce in your diet. It can be tedious to "honestly" record everything that you eat...but it's worth it. Also...The walking will always help and is a great habit to keep going! Best of luck.

Having worked in an office setting for 3 years it is hard not to gain weight when you sit all day. Don't eat junk food or drink soda obviously. Eat a good breakfast like a couple eggs and oatmeal. For lunch make a tuna sandwich on wheat and have an apple with that. When you get home, go run, jog, or even walk to get some sort of exercise. I actually built a small table so I could work standing up instead of sitting all day. Sounds pretty dumb but I was going crazy just sitting all day long. Maybe that will work for you.
