Did I drink too much ice water?!

Question: Well, I just drank over 2 (8.75) gallons of ice water to try and lose a little weight. I think I may have gone a little overboard, but did I burn many calories? And what could happen from drinking this much H2O? Thanks!

Well, for starters, you can drink too much water. This is known as water intoxication. However, unless you feel extremely sick, this is probably not the case for you. You would certainly know if you drank too much. As for calories burned, every 2 cups of water you drink burns about 50 calories. 2 gallons equals 32 cups, so you burned 800 calories! However, you should not think about how many calories you are burning as you drink ice water. Instead, consider how good it is for you body and your health. So keep up the drinking...of water that is!!! haha

You can never drink to much water. unless you feel weird then probably.

look up water intoxication. a woman recently died as a result of a radio contest (for a Nintendo wii) because she drank too much water. yes, it can be fatal

Water is good for you, but drinking too much can actually make you sick. Don't drink water till the point where you don't feel good. I heard one girl died from too much water intake actually

You're not going to lose weight from drinking a lot of water at one sitting. The most you're going to get out of this is that you'll lose some sleep from going to the bathroom so many times tonight.

It is plausible that someone can kill themself from drinking a huge amount of water at one time.

Yes it can kill you. Its called water intoxication.

Yeah, a few years ago a teenage guy died when his friends dared him to drink a whole lot of water. :/

Uhhh bad idea. If you start vomiting you should get to the ER quick! A bad headache is another bad sign. You can die from water intoxication.

You only burn a few calories from drinking ice water. You should try another way to burn calories such as exercise.

It is possible to drink too much water and it can be dangerous. It can increase your total blood volume and this puts undue stress on your heart and kidneys. You can also dilute your electrolytes.

You should drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, but too much is harmful. Let your thirst be your guide.

People use water in hazing for fraternities too much is bad there was a show on TV about water hazing and two college kids died from too much water consumption.

If you drink too much water too fast you can get hyponatremia which is where you dilute too much sodium and potassium out of your blood stream and system and you can actually die from it. Look it up, drinking that much water isn't going to make you lose weight.
