How much should I consume and excercise daily to lose 4-7 pounds a week?!


Question: I am asking this question for my neice. She is 14, 208 pounds about 5'4 (?) She does softball 5 times a week for about 1 hour. She doesn't do much on weekends. Right now she is going through changes of moving ect. How much should she eat? What is her BMI? I know she should cut out fastfood (taco bell fanatic) She has begun eating only 3 fruits a day and drinking 2 bottled waters. She excercises some, but not enough...

4-7 is not healthy. your body can go into a depressive state. making weight loss near impossible and weight gain eminent. 1-3 is safe and healthy. a strict diet plan(friuts and vegtables. along with Low sugar foods. make sure she eats enough protein to compensate for the fat and sugar decrease.

I don't know much about this. But she should not only have 3 pieces of fruit and 2 waters. She needs to have some sort of diet. 3 meals a day. A person i know that has followed a diet with the meals designed for 2 weeks and the person has been able to lose 3-4 kilos(I'm from aus so i don't know about pounds). So you eat the designed diet over and over. And exercise of course.

There's 3500 calories in 1 pound, so if she wants to lose 4-7 pounds in a week, she would need to create a calorie deficit of 14,000 to 24,500 calories in that week. You can do this by either limiting your caloric intake, or tons of excercise. Keep in mind that neither alone will work very well. For example, you'd have to walk something like an hour on the treadmill to burn off an 8oz glass of orange juice. Most of the weight loss results from regular physical activity of light to moderate excercice, with much bigger changes to your diet and caloric intake. That is the iron-clad recipe for weight loss success! One last thing. Anything above 2-3 pound losses in a week should be cleared and supervised by your doctor.
