BMI is a very crude way of determining optimum body weight for height.

I'm male, 6'2" and weight 16 stones (224lb), which makes my BMI = 28.8. So, according to the charts, I'm approaching obesity!

The reality is that I have a 34" waist and flat tummy, but am heavily built around the shoulders and chest and also have big legs. I don't weight train, it's just the way I am.

To get a better idea of optimum weight, visit your family doctor or their practice nurse to get a more accurate idea of your ideal weight.

What's that in stone?
11 stone? Well, I wouldn't say you were really overweight, just a bit. I wouldn't worry about it, it's not like your obese or anything.

the only way to know if you're overweight is to work out your BMI (body mass index) but as you seem to be quite broad i would advise you go to your doctor to make sure

Well your BMI is 26. So you are slightly overweight. Try eating 3 healthy meals a day, and cutting out all snacks, soda and sugary foods.
Exercise for around 40-60 mins a day and you should loose weight and keep it off.

no body is just big build,,either your over weight or your not!!

i am 17, 5'7-5'8 lol and it said in my biology text book that 11 stone or about is fine, so i think you are fine :)

It depends on your body fat percentage. For a girl your age 20%-28% body fat is healthy. If it's over this you might want to reduce it a bit, otherwise you are fine.
