I don't know. Maybe because they can teach it better to others then practice it themselves and sometimes the schools just gotta hire people at a certain time and they were the only one's avalable

I had a fat gym teacher too... maybe they think that just being a gym teacher is enough for the pounds to fall off... when really.. they should be climbing the rope along with everyone else! hahaha

Because after they become fat, they learn how to be healthy so they can teach people to not end up the way they did. My gym teacher had 2 heart attacks had both hips replaced his wife smokes and his daughter had to go through rehab.
Lol. I don't like gym teachers. My teacher last year got fired for telling some 6th grader that her legs were sexy.

its not just fat people, its all types. But for the overweight ones, maybe they are gym teachers so the students wont follow the footsteps that the teacher went. The teacher probably wants to save the students from being like him...or he just wants to get paid.
