Please help me..trying to quit sodas..?!

Question: well its been 3 days now that i have stopped drinking pop for now because i realised how it can mess you up and how unhealthy it really is. I am now feeling sluggish, tired, and have a terrible headache. I think this has got something to do with me stop drinking so much sodas?.. Could this be the reason why? Will it pass?

yes, i know exactly what you are talking about.
you are having caffeine withdrawl.
like having withdrawl from smoking or drugs, your body is in need of caffeine and craving it.
dont give in, and it will pass in a couple of days :)

yes you are having withdraw from all of the sugar, it gets better.

Driniking so much soda can make you diabetic. Also, with all the chemicals it contains....try to hold off on it.

If it is from the soda, then it will pass. your body has the ability to adapt to certain situations and environments, it just takes some getting used to.

don't give up sodas all at once. just work your way up to eliminating it a little at a time.

It is like kicking a drug...you are going through withdrawl. Try subsituting another drink of choice such as half club soda mixed with juice. You get the fizzy taste, extra fluilds and a vitamin punch with the jiuce.

You are getting a caffeine headache as withdrawal from soda. Substitute water for soda and you'll be back to normal soon.

I did the same thing almost a month ago, also for health reasons. I drank 1 or 2 20 oz bottles of diet coke a day, the headaches are caffeine withdrawl and the tiredness is the same thing, it will pass. I drank root beer for a few days to help, something about being caffeine free but still like a soda helped me.
How long the effect linger depend on how much you drank, but it WILL pass, stick with it.
Good Luck!

i am in the same position, i am trying to give up sodas too, although i am finding it very easy because i didn't drink them too much anyway. it will pass, it's just like quiting smoking or something. everytime that u r craving soda, just tell urself that it is a butload of crap that might mutilate ur body, and drink some water instead. whenever u are craveing something that is bad, just find a good alternative. best of luck, and yes, the dizzyness will go away.

I had a really difficult time giving up soda as well. I still enjoy the occasional diet soda, maybe three or four cans a week, but I try not to take in too many artificial sweetners.

Try to pinpoint what exactly you like about the soda. Is it the sweetness? The fizz? The caffeine? If it's the sweetness & you don't mind artificial sweetners, make the switch to diet soda. If it's the fizz you enjoy, take some sparkling water. You can even get things like Mendota that have lemon or lime (no sweetners of any kind). That's one of my favorite things to drink! As for the caffeine, any side affects from giving that up will eventually pass & you should feel better in a few days.

Good for you for giving up soda! It really isn't a healthy choice to be making for a regular drinking habit - make sure you get lots of water!

Oh yes! Drink lots of water. You are probably missing the sugar and caffeine in fizzy drinks but that will pass. Good luck.

it's because you don't have caffeine in your diet anymore. caffeine is a stimulant so your brain becomes dependant on the energy [from the caffeine] after a period of time. yes, it will pass but with time. the only thing you can do is wait it out.

After the 3rd day you start to feel better. Way to go, I am gonna be giving it up and so by next week I will be feeling like crud too!! Only for a few days though.

Well I don't have that issue with sodas (I just have one diet soda a day), but I just had that issue with chocolate today. I just gave up chocolate today - I lasted until about 7pm. I got this horrible headache and I was like shaking. So I just caved and had a peanut butter cup :(
I know it's so hard. Our bodies just get addicted to the sugar/caffeine and when they don't get it, they start going crazy.
Good luck to you! Hope you do better than I did!
