Can't do pushups?!

Question: I can't even do modified pushups. What can I do to help me reach my goal of being able to do an actual pushup?

It would sound silly but I started pushing up against the wall. Then I found a high surface (like a really heavy table) and (standing on the floor with my hands on that surface) pushed up 10 to 15 times, 3 to 5 times a day until I feel really easy doing it. Then I found a lower surface (roughly 5 inches lower than the first) and continued to do it.
Do persistently like that until you lower your surface to the floor.
Hope you can do that in 3 weeks!! ^_^

just do some light free weight that work the shoulders

Maybe do pushups of the kitchen counter?

Lose some weight... when I was fat I couldn't do any pushups but now that I've lost weight and in a good shape I can do some but not alot lol I don't like doing pushups anyway.

you have to strengthen your arms.. try some light dumbells and work your way up

Try doing it against the wall first and them use your finger tips.
Keep moving further back with your feet as you grow stronger.
Do about 40 each day and then move to doing them on the ground.

strengthen your arms

everything needs practices

start with little exercies to do 2 things: lose weight, and increase strength.

how about boxing? or liittle weight lifting with 2 pounds weights to get your strength up?

Uh...you could either lift weights or lose them(no offense). Hope I helped :D

Hmm, maybe purchase some 5pound barbells and try those for a bit, do the same amout of reps each day, i think youll be able to do pushups soon enough if you stick to it!
Good Luck

if you cant even do a modified pushup you are really lacking in upper body strength. just keep trying and forcing yourself harder. i must admit that is very wierd because even the heaviest women i know can do modified pushups.

there are a lot of things, such as weights, where you can control how hard your work out is, but i think it would be easier for you to do wall push ups.

basically, stand about 2- 4 feet away from a wall and push off the wall. you can adjust how far away you stand for different levels of difficulty.
do that until you can do push- ups from your knees, then the actual thing.

do as much of the motion as you can every day ....increasing the Resistance each time ...... b4 to long you will have the strength needed to do the push up ...... the strength will come from isometric exercise if you will hold yourself at the point of most Resistance for 7 seconds ...... good luck !

do the girl way first..builds up your arms then you will be able to do a few in between the right way until you get better to do them reg all the time

start of but doing push ups on your knees in steed of on your toes. if you can only go half way to the floor then don't worry just do that for the monument, try and do 8-10 of thought or as many as you can do and build it up to 8-10,

once you can do that try going all the way down, start of by doing 8-10 or as many as you can do and build it up.

once you are able to do this then try and do a push up on your toes if you can only go half way down then that is fine just build it you like you don't the other ones

it may take some time just keep practicing a couple of times a day and you will get it

good luck
