This is a very good idea as a lot of the time people underestimate what they eat, or they'll 'forget' about the sneaky jam donut they had at lunch etc. If you write it all down not only will you know exactly the amount of calories you've ingested you'll be able to see when your 'danger' points are, for example when you're likely to reach for the candy or when you feel hungriest. You can then save your snacks for the times you feel hungriest, keep busy at times you'd usually snack on the wrong things and also keep an eye on what you drink as fruit juices etc can be calorific. If you aren't already dieting, make a note of the calories you eat each day and then subtract 500 from that number. Exercise aswell and the weight will fall off. Good luck and happy new year:)

Not really just writing it down does nothing really. Just make sure you don't eat late, eat healthy and exercise and the weight will drop off.

Yes, as long as you're not running out of paper.

I think it;s an EXCELLENt thing to do.
You keep track of what goes into your body that's why.
I m gona start doing it too.

yes it is very effective in looking back andseeing where you can make improvements... something also is we tend to forget the last things we eat when it comes to snack attacks... and eat because we think we are hungry... i think you are on the right track...keep it up and best wishes....

i think it is!

Yeah that's a really good way to look over your good eating habits. If it helps you make good eating choices then it's a great idea!

I hope that helped :)

It kind of depends on what you write down.
Are you doing this in order to keep track of what you have eaten?

Or are you doing this in a way of showing your self of how *much* you have eaten?

Either way, I am not sure it is the best idea around.
I'd say only to do this if you're keeping track of things in order to calculate the right intake of different food groups, not otherwise.

Yes, a food diary is a good idea, but you have to learn from it.
At some point you should get a calorie counting book and go over what you've eaten to find out just how many calories you are consuming. If it is too high or too low, adjust your food intake.

Writing down everything you eat and drink is a good aid to dieting because it makes you aware of what and how much your eat and drink. But of course, along with that you need to have goals for eating healthy food in the right amounts. Then you can see how close you are coming to your goals and whether the diet you are on is working.

its a great way.. thats what we do in herbal magic.. we have a weight loss diary.. just to make sure we arent cheating on our diet

This is a good way to get started. If you try to keep track of your calories, that would be better. There are lots of online sites that tell you how many calories are in all kinds of food if you're not sure. If you want to lose weight, try to stay under 1200 calories a day.

I do agree on writing down what you eaten in a day but, you have to do exercise too.

It definitely can help. I'm wondering if you also write down the calories, fat and protein? if not do so and also add cardio and weight training to bring down your weight faster. The more muscle you have the more weight you will lose! You can burn more calories, every hour, every day, even while sleeping by building up muscle. When you add muscle to your body, you are increasing your basal metabolic rate - the number of calories you burn each day at rest. Make sure you add all your calories at the end of the day, as well as fat and protein- a high protein low fat diet combined with excercise is a sure way to loose weight. Good Luck!!!

yeah it is.
definently!
and thanks so much becuase you just gave me a great idea!
