Am I doing all the things I can do to lose weight?!

Question: I am 60 years old and I am a Type 2 Diabetic and I also have high cholesterol. I am on a reduced calory diet. I am allowed to consume 1,200 calories per day and aim for 30 grams or less of carbs per day. I ride my exercise bike 20 minutes per day and I walk 3 to 5 miles every other day. I also do free weights every other day. I have had 3 knee surgeries and I have a full time job as a dog trainer. I get lots of physical activity on the job. Is there anything I can do to increase the amount of weight I am losing. I have lost 20 pounds and need to lose another 20 to 25 pounds. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm really impressed with all that exercise! It is very beneficial to weight loss to drink as much water as you can, especially before a meal as this will give you a feeling of fullness so you'll eat less. Also, if you are feeling hungry, drink water before reaching for food as sometimes we mistake the feeling of needing food for thirst. Good luck.

Be careful with keeping your carb levels so low. Low carb levels tells your body to go into a Catabolic state and store food more. It also makes you tired more easier because your body can convert protein to energy but very ineffeciently. Keeping your insulin levels is the key by eating low Glycemic foods such as Whole foods and staying away from processed foods. Your body also gets used to certain diets and switching up your diet is very helpful. When I compete for competitions I usually switch my diet every month or so depending on how its going. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF EATING CARBOHYDRATES

Are you on a keto diet? It's an effective diet, but you can't be on it forever. You should up the carbs eventually , specifically from high quality sources like oatmeal, beans, sweet potatoes, etc.. I'd recommend you supplement with some fish oil, aim to get about 1000mg combined of the active ingredients DHA & EPA. This will help your body maintain a hormonal balance and be very helpful to your joints.

Happy New Year!

I would suggest you try cleansing your body. I did and lost 10 pounds in a week and 29 pounds in a month. I feel so much better. I really believe we are all gettting fat from the toxins in our foods. Try to cleanse and see how your body responds. You may be as happy as I was. You can get info toll free from 1-877-587-4647 or online at http://thebestcleansingdiet.com
