Ok, I'm going on a diet now but I was wondering if there is any way of...?!


Question: I'm heading out for my birthday in about 2 1/2 weeks and wearing a skirt (yes I know, a short dress in the middle of January in Scotland :-P), but I was wondering if there was anything I could do within the next couple of weeks to help tone my legs? I can't afford the gym and will be going on a diet to lose weight, so is there anything I could do at home? I heard that skipping is a good way of getting cardio exercise, so I do have a skipping rope lol. Anything else?

skipping rope is great exercise, so just do it. Dancing, walking, and climbing stairs are also recommended. Doing Isometric (tightening and loosening the different muscle groups) exercises will help tone up your body, while weightlifting will help build up mass. You can also look into what you eat. Process foods and drinks can contain much salt, and that will cause you to retain water more. Avoid any processed food, and eat more fruits and vegetables, plus drink more water to help flush impurities out of your body. My other advice to you is before you make any dramatic changes in your diet, and start any exercise program to have your medical doctor give you a physical, and see if your program would be healthy for you. It is always a good idea to start any exercise program slowly and build it up over a period of time.

I agree that a quick fix won't work. 20 days is a short amount of time. And gyms arent expensive. My gym membership costs me $12 a month.
As far as excercising at home, running is great. Jog around in your neighborhood. Or just put on some of your favorite music and do some cardio work in your living room. Dance around, jump, punch and kick. It sounds silly but it's an excellent workout and will keep you healthy and in shape.
