A pound of muscle obviously weighs as much as a pound of fat.
However, it takes a LOT more fat to make up 1 pound than it does muscle.

So if you had 15 pounds of fat and 15 pounds of muscle, they obviously equal the same amount, but quantity-wise, you would have more fat.

Get it?

yes..roughly three times more!

I think you all knew what I meant...for the same volume, muscle weighs more than fat..so thanks for all the thumbs down small minded folks!

yes it does

Yes, it does. If you're in good shape, then don't worry too much about the scale. Size 4 is never overweight.

muscle does indeed weight more than fat

Yes, muscle ways more than fat.

yes it does.

yes but adding fat and muscle you can weigh more than you want.

yes it does.
u should go to a docter and get urself checked
if u want to kno ur percentage of fat and muscle. :]

maybe the scales are wrong, try some other ones/someone elses.

Don't really know the right answer, but I know that fat floats, that's why when ya cook or boil chicken or cheep beef, all that gunk is on top, it is fat. Hope this helps some.

yes muscle does weigh more than fat.
im tiny too and no one believes that i weigh 115

ya like 3 times more!

Yes. Muscles weigh more than fat. :0)

217 myself.

Muscle weighs approximately 22% more than fat when comparing the same volumes. It does not weigh three times more.

Yes, muscle weighs more than fat, but even with muscle instead of fat at 189 you should be larger than a size 4. Have you checked your weight on different scales? You probably don't weigh that much! I weigh at least 50 pounds less than 189 and wear a size 8 in jeans. I'm not super muscular by no means, but I am somewhat toned. My weight isn't all fat :-).

Actually, muscle does NOT necessarily weigh more than fat. As mentioned above, 1 lb of muscle weighs exactly the same as 1 lb of fat.

What you probably mean to ask is if muscle is more DENSE than fat (it is). Density is defined as mass/volume. If you have been exercising extensively, it is very possible that you've been able to tone and build up muscle, lose fat, while maintaining your body shape. In fact, thighs contain the largest and strongest skeletal muscles in the human body.

Yes. it does. I was a "FAT BOY" too, but once i start working out at GYM, I become Muscular and Fit. But still maintain almost the same weight. :P

muscles are made up of protein. When protein level is reduced fats are converted in fats. when we take food if protein not required by the body then protein is converted into fat. Fat is reservoir for proteins. So yes muscles weigh More than fat. But when a man does less work or exercise his muscles does not require much protein so more fat accumulates in his body and has fatty appearance.
