Have i got a eating disorder?!


Question: all my frends say im dead skiny but all i can see is fat i think i eat a lot but im under weight i count the calories of what i eat and dont like eating more than 500 calories a day do i have a eating desorder or am i being stupit

Yes, there is something wrong. 500 calories a day is absurd. You should be eating more like 500 calories at every meal. I suggest seeing a nutritionist who can recommend and talk to you about exactly how many calories you should be eating based on your age, height and weight. He/she can recommend healthy snacks and talk to you if you are concerned about gaining weight. You should also consult a therapist and talk about your body image issues. There may be a deeper reason behind why you are doing this. GL.

You have something called Body Dismorphic Disorder. You think you are fat, but really you are deathly skinny. You need to be getting atleast 1000 calories a day. Go talk to a healthcare professional!

Ya, your being stupid. 500 calories a day is DANGEROUS! Get some help. You don't want to be one of thoes people! And if everyone says your not fat, then you are not fat!

Why not check with your doc to see what is the right # of calories - or better yet, the right weight for someone your height and bone structure.
I don't think 500 calories is enough.
We often see "fatter in the mirror" than what is reality - it's just a girl thing.
I salute you for looking into this prior to your becoming ill; this is a sign of intelligence.
Take care of you and don't get too skinny.

If you don't eat more than 500 calories a day, you obviously have some form of E.D. as you think you eat a lot. You don't. Go see a doctor or at least have a chat with one of your friends about how you're feeling. Good luck!

Stop counting the calories and just eat when you feel. Don't try to eat more, but don't watch what you eat either. If you gain weight then you did have one, if you don't then you probably just have an Ectomorphic body type, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatotype
