I don't know exactly what your routine consist of but a hard leg workout requires seven days rest. That's to say, just don't work legs directly again for that amount of time. My leg routine is so hard I have trouble walking to my car afterwords. Even thought I'm only sore for a day I still wait the allotted time. Remember you're legs are carrying you around all day and get worked just doing that. That's one reason it really takes a lot of work to press then further then they usually work.
I work only two body parts at a time and leg day is on a day by itself. I've even taken calf's out of the leg day. They're the hardest part of the leg routine to work and I just don't have the energy left to work them the way I need to so I do abs and calf's on the same day.
Keep up the work....just set the rest days up to benefit your recovery.

At least one. Probably two. But you'll be less sore if you get back into it the sooner the better. I know it hurts right now, but stretching and getting back into it will help the soreness.

You should wait until the pain is gone about 75-80 percent! It could be anywhere from 2 days to a week.

That soreness is a buildup of lactic acid in your muscles and resting may help, but not as much as walking it off will. you need to get the blood flowing again. As soon as you can walk with out wincing in pain, you need to.
