Loosing weight help!?!

Question: I need help to loose weight. I'm 31 and my Dad dies when he was 43...I;m scared of dying young like that and want to stick around for my daughter. I am really trying. I've been eating less than 10 grams of fat a day, working out at least 4 times a week to a 20 minute cardio video and still have been bouncing back and forth a difference of 7 pounds between night and morning. It's starting to freak me out....help!

More information would be helpful-- IE how much you weigh, how tall you are, exactly what type of exercises you've been doing.... Incorporating strength training exercises into your regimen would be much more beneficial than simply increasing your cardio. That's a losing battle. If you start working out your muscles and increase your protein intake, you may not see the weight drop but you'll lose fat and gain muscle.

Quick anatomy: muscle requires more blood flow than fat, thus more muscle increases the metabolism and speeds weight loss.

Also you need to not be bored with your routine. If you're doing the same video week after week, you're going to memorize the entire thing and so will your body. It won't see the benefits as much as when you first started. Vary your activities. If you're comfortable with four days a week exercising, stick with it. Maybe run a bit on day 1, work your upper body muscles on day 2, swim day 3, and work the lower body on day 4.

Whatever you do just don't try to do it too fast, and know that it's not about reaching a goal weight then you stop. Health is a lifelong effort. I'd say "reaching your goal" would be to perform all the activities you want. =)

you need excise and walk just keep going and see.

if you are really serious about loosing weight you should get a trainer....that could help you to a speedy new life style...or do the south beach diet or the jenny craig one that works the best from what people say good luck !!!
mayebe walk around like go to a mall or somewhere near your house a park and walk walking works my mom did that and she said you can tell inches going away day by day
Keep up what your doing your doing a great job just add in some more things later but good job doing all that cardio !!!

Well your calories should be somewhere in this range: 40-45% carbohydrates, 30% fat, and 10-15% protien. Your percentages should be somewhere in those ranges so it all adds up to 100%. You are only eating around 50 fat calories a day, and that is not good for you. Your body needs fat! The reason that you are not really losing any weight is because of the amount of time that you have been working out. You say that you have been working out for 20 minute sessions for 4 days a week. For the first 20 minutes of exercise your body's fuel source is carbohydrates. After 20 minutes of exercise your body's fuel source switches over to fat. So in short, in order to lose those pounds you need to work out for more than 20 minutes. Also, make sure that you have a healthy diet. I hope i've helped you.

first of all, 10 grams of fat a day is TOO LITTLE. The body AND the brain need some fat to function properly. You will not lose weight if you eat too little- your body will go into "starvation mode" and hold on to what fat you have. Log on to the Weight Watchers website for some great, free advice. Better yet, join a local group at WW. I personally haven'y done this as I have my 3 adult daughters for a support system- we monitor each other and exercise together- and use the WW points system through the internet. You definitely need to excercise more than you are currently doing. You should be doing a minimum of 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Better would be to slowly push it up to an hour. Mix it up with cardio, walking, swimming, strength training and whatever else you enjoy- dancing, softball, tennis, etc. You have to make it fun to make it last! Keep working at it- but remember that you need about 20% fat in a healthy diet (the recommended amount is 30%, but many heart doctors are saying to go less. If you are eating, say 1400 calories a day- just a figure not necessarily what you should do- even 10% fat would be 14 grams. 20% would be 28 grams of fat a day.) Get you fat in good ways- a little olive oil on your salad, a little cheese, avocado, in small amounts of red meat, etc. It also won't hurt to treat yourself once in awhile to a good piece of chocolate, a small ice cream cone, etc. When you count points, you can eat anything and also get "flex points" during the week. I promise you, you WILL start losing again if you up your fat and probably your calories a little and exercise more. Good Luck to you- I know it's a lifelong struggle!
